Research on Optimal Width of Coal Pillars in Both Sides of Abandoned Mining Areas and Tunnel Control Technology

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study primarily investigates the optimal width for coal pillar retention in both sides of the worked‐out face section. Taking the 42201 haulage roadway of the 42201 working face at Shengxin Coal Mine as the primary research target, it analyses the optimum width for coal pillar retention through theoretical calculations, numerical simulations, and ...

Similar locomotor patterns across Quarter Horse disciplines inform lameness assessment

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Lineage‐based selection is central to the Quarter Horse industry and is often justified by the assumption that morphology determines locomotor function. However, objective evidence linking static conformation to discipline‐specific locomotor behaviour under standardised conditions remains limited.

Determination method of rock characteristic stresses based on the energy growth rate

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
Introduction: Precisely determining the characteristic stress value of a rock progressive failure process has important theoretical and practical significance for reasonably defining the rock deformation and failure stage, mechanical mechanism, and ...

Fault Detection of Electric Motors via Symmetrized Dot Pattern‐Based Features

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study proposes a novel symmetrized dot pattern (SDP) approach using designed SDP‐based features, extracted from transformed vibration signals, for fault detection. These features describe the compactness, inclination, and shape of the “snowflake” diagram distributions.

Comparison of Consumer Smartwatch and Research‐Grade Accelerometer‐Derived Step Counts in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction/Aims Objective, scalable measures of function are needed in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Research‐grade accelerometers are promising but may be difficult to deploy for prolonged remote monitoring, whereas consumer smartwatches offer a practical alternative. We evaluated the feasibility of long‐term smartwatch monitoring in

Modeling Biocemented Sands: Hypoplastic Model for MICP‐Based Ground Improvement

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Bio‐cementation offers a sustainable and low‐carbon alternative to conventional ground improvement methods, aligning with the growing demand for green geotechnical solutions. To enable reliable numerical simulation of bio‐cemented soil behavior in engineering applications, advanced constitutive models are required to account for the effects of

Fiber Bragg Grating Force Sensors for Minimally Invasive Surgery: State of the Art, Challenges, and Opportunities

open access: yesSmartBot, EarlyView.
This article reviews the application of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) technology for precise force sensing in minimally invasive surgery. It outlines the fundamental working principles and algorithms used to interpret sensor data. The text surveys clinical applications across various medical fields, such as ophthalmology and vascular intervention (Table of

Determination of stress state in deep subsea formation by combination of hydraulic fracturing in situ test and core analysis: A case study in the IODP Expedition 319

open access: yes, 2013
[1] In situ test of hydraulic fracturing (HF) provides the only way to observe in situ stress magnitudes directly. The maximum and minimum horizontal stresses, SHmax and Shmin, are determined from critical borehole pressures, i.e., the reopening pressure

Effect of Double Annealing on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a Medium Manganese Steel

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
A double intercritical annealing strategy is proposed to tailor the multiphase microstructure and mechanical response of a medium‐Mn steel. The treatment produces an ultrafine mixture of ferrite, martensite and multiple austenite populations with graded thermal and mechanical stability, formed through austenite reversion and controlled retransformation.

A new smooth failure criterion for concrete inspired by Lubliner's condition

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract A new failure criterion with 10 parameters is proposed, based on Lubliner's idea of joining two Drucker–Prager cones. The novelty lies in the way of introducing deviatoric shape variation: through two Podgórski's functions. This feature allows for improving plane stress cross‐section's compatibility with experimental data.
