Multivariate B-Splines and Truncated Powers
1993In the following, it is convenient to accept slightly a different normalization for B-splines. Namely, a B-spline with a knot set θ = {t 0, ..., t r }, a ⩽ t 0 ⩽ ... ⩽ t r ⩽ b is defined by the rule $$M(t) = M(t|\theta ) = r[{t_0},...,{t_r}]( \cdot - t)_ + ^{r - 1}$$ (9.1.1) and therefore (see 3.2.1) $$\int\limits_a^b {M(t)dt = 1}$$ .

Interactive isosurfaces with quadratic C 1 splines on truncated octahedral partitions
Information Visualization, 2011The reconstruction of a continuous function from discrete data is a basic task in many applications such as the visualization of 3D volumetric data sets. We use a local approximation method for quadratic C1 splines on uniform tetrahedrat partitions to achieve a globally smooth function.

Multivariate Truncated Powers and B-Splines with Coalescent Knots
SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 1985Multivariate truncated powers [see \textit{W. Dahmen}, SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 17, 179-191 (1980; Zbl 0425.41015)] are distributions which generally can be identified with continuous, sectorwise polynomial functions. Just as in the univariate case B-splines with pairwise distinct knots can be written as linear combinations of these functions.

Truncated Laurent expansions for the fast evaluation of thin plate splines
Numerical Algorithms, 1993Thin plate splines are highly useful for approximation of functions of two variables, partly because they provide the interpolant to scattered function values that minimizes a 2-norm of second derivatives. On the other hand, they have the severe disadvantage that the explicit calculation of a thin plate spline approximation requires a log function to ...

Mixture model of spline truncated and kernel in multivariable nonparametric regression
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2016Given the data (x1i, x2i,…, xpi,t1i,t2i,…,tqi, yi) with predictors (xsi, tki) and response variables yi are assumed to follow unknown function such that their dependence can be approximated by a nonparametric regression model y˜=μ˜(x,t)+e˜=∑i=1pf˜s(x)+∑k=1qg˜k(t)+e˜.
