Comparison of dealiasing schemes in large-eddy simulation of neutrally stratified atmospheric flows [PDF]
Aliasing errors arise in the multiplication of partial sums, such as those encountered when numerically solving the Navier–Stokes equations, and can be detrimental to the accuracy of a numerical solution.

Statistically relevant conserved quantities for truncated quasigeostrophic flow [PDF]
Systematic applications of ideas from equilibrium statistical mechanics lead to promising strategies for assessing the unresolved scales of motion in many problems in science and engineering. A scientific debate over more than the last 25 years involves which conserved quantities among the formally infinite list are statistically relevant for the large-

Lorentzian Entropies and Olbert's κ - Distribution
This note derives the various forms of entropy of a systems subject to Olbert distributions (generalized Lorentzian probability distributions known as κ-distributions), which are frequently observed, particularly in high-temperature plasmas.

Chaotic spin chains in AdS/CFT
We consider the spectrum of anomalous dimensions in planar N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory and its N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 1 super-conformal Leigh-Strassler deformations. The two-loop truncation of the integrable N $$ \mathcal{N} $$

TRUNCATED STATISTICAL BOOTSTRAP EQUATION.
Abstract An extension of the thermodynamic bootstrap model in which the volume parameter depends on the number of subfireballs N is proposed. Based on the conventional threepoint resonance coupling, we suggest as a first approximation that N ⩾ 3 terms should be dropped.

Noise-Driven Return Statistics: Scaling and Truncation in Stochastic Storage Processes
In countless systems, subjected to variable forcing, a key question arises: how much time will a state variable spend away from a given threshold? When forcing is treated as a stochastic process, this can be addressed with first return time distributions.

A New Adaptive Spatial Filtering Method in the Wavelet Domain for Medical Images
Although there are many methods in the literature to eliminate noise from images, finding new methods remains a challenge in the field and, despite the complexity of existing methods, many of the methods do not reach a sufficient level of applicability ...

A High Statistics Lattice Calculation of The B-meson Binding Energy [PDF]
We present a high statistics lattice calculation of the B--meson binding energy $\overline{\Lambda}$ of the heavy--quark inside the pseudoscalar B--meson. Our numerical results have been obtained from several independent numerical simulations at $\beta=6.

Detecting Weak Signals by Combining Small P-Values in Genetic Association Studies
We approach the problem of combining top-ranking association statistics or P-values from a new perspective which leads to a remarkably simple and powerful method.
