On March 6, 1981, Walter Cronkite signed off of as CBS Anchor and left a nation without its “most trusted voice.” On December 1, 2004, NBC Anchor Tom Brokaw signed off, leaving a much smaller void. The difference between these two events is not a reflection of the two men, but rather a difference between the audiences who watched each of them.
