Molecular and serological diagnosis of the circulating Trypanosoma evansi in Egyptian livestock with risk factors assessment.

Microbial Pathogenesis
This study aimed to characterize and determine the prevalence and the associated risk factors of trypanosomiasis in different Egyptian livestock from various governorates using molecular and serological techniques, adding to an assessment of some ...

Trypanosoma evansi in Asia

Parasitology Today, 1988
Trypanosoma evansi has the widest geographical range of all the pathogenic trypanosome species and infects domesticated livestock in many countries of South America, Africa and Asia. In spite of this wide distribution, T. evansi has been less intensively investigated than the African tsetse-transmitted trypanosomes and there is correspondingly less ...

Pathogenic mechanisms of Trypanosoma evansi infections

Research in Veterinary Science, 2012
Insect-borne diseases exact a high public health burden and have a devastating impact on livestock and agriculture. To date, control has proved to be exceedingly difficult. One such disease that has plagued sub-Saharan Africa is caused by the protozoan African trypanosomes (Trypanosoma species) and transmitted by tsetse flies (Diptera: Glossinidae ...

Comparison of serological and molecular tests for detection of Trypanosoma evansi in domestic animals from Ghardaïa district, South Algeria.

Veterinary parasitology, 2020
Trypanosoma evansi (T. evansi) is a hemoflagellate parasite that affects a broad range of mammalian hosts and that causes a disease called surra. Diagnosis of surra based on clinical symptoms alone is inaccurate.

Catabolism of Tryptophan by Trypanosoma evansi

Journal of Eukaryotic Microbiology, 1995
ABSTRACT. Trypanosoma brucei gambiense, which causes human African trypanosomiasis, catabolizes the aromatic amino acid tryptophan via an initial aminotransferase catalyzed reaction to form several indole end products, which have been suggested to contribute to the pathogenesis of trypanosomiasis. To determine if this same pathway exists in T. evansi,

Nanotechnology enabled the enhancement of antitrypanosomal activity of piperine against Trypanosoma evansi.

Experimental parasitology, 2020
Nanoencapsulation is the promising approach to enhance the therapeutic potential of a drug. In the present investigation, piperine-loaded nanocapsules (NCs) was prepared and evaluated for antitrypanosomal activity against the parasite Trypanosoma evansi,

Drug sensitivity of Chinese Trypanosoma evansi and Trypanosoma equiperdum isolates

Veterinary Parasitology, 1994
The drug sensitivities of eleven Trypanosoma evansi isolates from China were examined using two different in vitro assays, a 3H-hypoxanthine incorporation assay and a long incubation low inoculation test (LILIT). Better discrimination of the drug susceptibility of the strains was observed with the LILIT.

First survey of ticks, tick-borne pathogens (Theileria, Babesia, Anaplasma and Ehrlichia) and Trypanosoma evansi in protected areas for threatened wild ruminants in Tunisia.

Parasitology international, 2020
The aim of the study was to identify ticks present in the environment and wild Tunisian ruminants and to detect tick-borne pathogens and Trypanosoma evansi DNA in these specimens.

Population sub-structuring among Trypanosoma evansi stocks

Parasitology Research, 2007
To investigate the population genetic structure of Trypanosoma evansi from domesticated animals, we have analysed 112 stocks from camels, buffaloes, cattle and horses using the tandemly repeated coding sequence (MORF2) and minisatellite markers 292 and cysteine-rich acidic integral membrane protein (CRAM).

Drug-resistance intrypanosoma evansi

Tropical Animal Health and Production, 1971
Eleven strains ofT. evansi breaking through prophylaxis with quinapyramine suraminate were tested for development of resistance to suramin, quinapyramine, and four strains also to diminazene. It was noted that a variable degree of resistance had developed to the former two drugs but not to diminazene.
