Local pattern of domiciled and wild distribution of Panstrongylus megistus was observed through artificial and natural ecotopes investigation. The bug was found inhabiting periodomestic dwellings and hollow trees in the sylvatic environment serving as shelters for wild animals. This was mainly represented by spots of remaining forests.

The development of spontaneous colonies of Panstrongylus megistus in experimental fowlhouses showed regional variation with positive results in regions with an annual dry season, and negative ones in regions without this well-marked period. Spontaneous colonies of Triatoma sordida developed in experimental fowlhouses were submitted to observations as regards permanence and mobility of this bug. During thirteen months, adults and nymphs of fourth and fifth in stars were tagged for recapture. Resting traps for atracting bugs were placed around the fowlhouses.
