Education in a Changing Climate: A Systematic Review for Low and Middle‐Income Countries (LMICs)
ABSTRACT Climate change is a major global challenge that affects many aspects of human life and hinders progress on the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). One area that has not received enough attention is its impact on children's education in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs), which are especially vulnerable to ...

Effects of Waveform Distribution of Tsunami-Like Solitary Wave on Run-up on Impermeable Slope [PDF]
For decades, solitary waves have commonly been used to simulate tsunami conditions in numerical studies. However, the main component of a tsunami waveform acts at completely different spatial and temporal distributions than a solitary waveform.

Practical Methodology for Developing Visions for Carbon‐Neutral Cities and Communities
ABSTRACT Cities and communities play important roles in sustainable development and climate change mitigation. This study presents a novel framework for developing carbon‐neutral visions for cities and communities. We established five “principles,” investigated options encompassing four parameters (management, goal setting, actions, and quantification),

Tuning the Photochemistry of Entatic State Model Systems
We present the photochemistry of the entatic state model [Cu(DMEGqu)2]+/2+, a copper guanidino‐quinoline complex pair. By transient IR and UV/Vis spectroscopy, we obtained the lifetimes of the different excited states. We show that the structural effect of the guanidine tunes the photochemistry of this entatic state model.

FINITE VOLUME METHODS AND ADAPTIVE REFINEMENT FOR GLOBAL TSUNAMI PROPAGATION AND LOCAL INUNDATION [PDF]
The shallow water equations are a commonly accepted approximation governing tsunami propagation. Numerically capturing certain features of local tsunami inundation requires solving these equations in their physically relevant conservative form, as ...

Measuring offshore tsunami currents using ship navigation records
We investigated ship navigation records known as Automatic Identification System (AIS) data near the source region of the 2011 Tohoku, Japan, tsunami. The AIS data of 16 ships in the offshore navigation could be compiled by about 40 min after the tsunami

Comparing approaches for numerical modelling of tsunami generation by deformable submarine slides
Tsunami generated by submarine slides are arguably an under-considered risk in comparison to earthquake-generated tsunami. Numerical simulations of submarine slide-generated waves can be used to identify the important factors in determining wave ...

This article explores the activities of daily life in a village neighbouring the TEPCO nuclear power plant in Fukushima. It argues that one of the potentials of taking a dwelling perspective – a phenomenological approach to living within the ecological and social environments – emerges most compellingly within a polluted landscape.

Extraction of Tsunami Signals from Coupled Seismic and Tsunami Waves
The generation of an earthquake and a tsunami is a coupled process of radiating seismic waves and exciting tsunamis, and the two types of waves are simultaneously recorded by ocean-bottom pressure sensors.
