Landslide tsunamis propagating around a conical island
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2010An analytical forced two-horizontal-dimension model is derived to investigate landslide tsunamis propagating around a conical island lying on a flat continental platform. Separation of variables and Laplace transform are used to obtain the free-surface elevation in the whole domain and the runup at the shoreline in terms of confluent Heun functions ...

Journal of Geophysical Research, 1969
The propagation of the Alaskan tsunamis of 1946 and 1964 has been studied using an iterative algorithm designed to handle continuous optimal problems. The results of calculations for the 1946 tsunami to Sitka demonstrate its capabilities and show that the great circle does not always furnish reliable approximations to the travel time and path ...

The Simulation of Tsunami Wave Propagation
Ninth IEEE International Symposium on Multimedia Workshops (ISMW 2007), 2007The tsunami which happened in 2004 has made lots of damages, and people saw the video from TV, they finally know how terrible the tsunami is. However, the movements of tsunami waves are not like those which are shown in Hollywood movies. In ocean engineering, they only simulate the surface of the tsunami wave movements, and the simulations are not ...

A Modelling Study on Tsunami Propagation in the Caspian Sea
Pure and Applied Geophysics, 2018A numerical model that simulates the propagation of tsunamis produced by submarine earthquakes was applied to the Caspian Sea. The model was first applied to the June 1990 (Rudbar) earthquake and our results proved to be coherent with previous simulations.

Landslide tsunamis propagating along a plane beach
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2008A forced two-horizontal-dimension analytical model is developed to investigate the distinguishing physical features of landslide-induced tsunamis generated and propagating on a plane beach. The analytical solution is employed to study the wave field at small times after the landslide motion starts.

Path of propagation of tsunami waves
Marine Geodesy, 1978On the basis of the so‐called “Fermat's Principle,” that tsunami waves proceed along such a path that the time required is minimum, the differential equation of the path of propagation was derived by applying Calculus of Variations, on the condition that the position of the wave source and that of the observing station are given.

TSUNAMI PROPAGATION IN THE CHESAPEAKE BAY, USA
Coastal Engineering 2008, 2009The present paper investigates the propagation of potential tsunamis in the Chesapeake Bay. The Chesapeake Bay, located on the east coast of the U.S., is one of the largest estuaries in the world. The U.S. east coast traditionally is believed to be an area free from tsunami impacts.

High-Performance Tsunami Wave Propagation Modeling
2009Strongest earthquake of December 26, 2004 generated catastrophic tsunami in Indian Ocean. This shows that, in spite of recent technology progress, population at coastal zone is not protected against tsunami hazard. Here, we address the problem of tsunami risks mitigation.
