Investigations of creep ratcheting on thick-walled tubes
Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1994Abstract The superposition of load-controlled stresses and cyclic thermal stresses at very high temperatures can produce remarkably enhanced creep deformations (creep ratcheting). During an experimental project thick-walled tubes made from ALLOY 800 were loaded by an axial force at temperatures around 900°C.

A Numerical Thermoelastoplastic Solution of a Thick-Walled Tube
AIAA Journal, 1974An incremental theory is presented for solving the problem of elastoplastic thick-walled tubes subjected to transient thermal loading. The effective stress in a thick-walled tube subjected to thermal loading is shown by examples that it is not a monotonic function with respect to the radius, but is strongly dependent upon the history, gradient, and ...

Periodic flow of a viscous liquid in a thick-walled elastic tube
The Bulletin of Mathematical Biophysics, 1965Arterial blood flow is analyzed on the basis of a realistic model consisting of a viscous liquid contained in a thick-walled viscoelastic tube. Approximate forms of the Navier-Stokes and continuity equations are derived for this model and solved in conjunction with the equations of motion of an elastic solid.

Non - Homogeneity of Wall Thickness In Tube Hydroforming
Cercetări metalurgice şi de noi materiale, 2009The process of tube hydroforming exhibits a number of advantages when compared to other metal forming processes. Therefore, the application of this manufacturing technology expands rapidly, especially in the automotive industry. Present paper describes investigations in which non-homogeneity of tube wall thickness, as one of the very important ...

Ideal plastic deformation of thick-walled tubes
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2015Tool profiles for ideal plastic deformation of thick-walled tubes in reduction and extension are calculated. In the case of ideal plastic deformation principal stresses coincide with the stream lines and normal to the stream lines, with the result of homogeneous plastic strain distribution through the tube wall thickness and minimum deformation force ...

Design and Implementation of a Tube Wall Thickness Measurement System
Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering, 1998This paper describes the design and implementation of a gage for measuring the wall thickness of hot rolled steel tubing at an actual production facility. The design is based upon a statistical analysis of the tube samples, and upon the economic realities of mill operating conditions.

A numerical study of swage autofrettage of thick-walled tubes
Materials & Design, 2007Swage autofrettage process is used for internal forming and sizing of thick-walled tubes designed to withstand high internal pressures. In this process, a mandrel with a diameter slightly larger than that of the tube is pressed inside the tube and in so doing, creates the internal profile. This paper presents an experimental and numerical study of this

INTEGRITY ASSESSMENT OF THICK WALLED INDUSTRIAL FURNACE TUBES
Transactions of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering, 1993This paper examines various simplified methods proposed to analyze stresses and predict damage and remaining life in furnace tubes subjected to sustained primary pressure stresses and cyclic secondary thermal stresses resulting from a typical furnace operation.

The Compression of Thick-Walled Tubes by External Pressure
Journal of Pressure Vessel Technology, 1977In a previous work the author enunciated a procedure for the analysis of tension specimen subjected to high pressure. Utilizing these results to define the work-hardening function the present paper attempts to ascertain the external pressure to which a thick-walled tube must be subjected to develop a given deflection at the internal surface of the ...
