Controlling the wall thickness and composition of hollow precipitation tubes
Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2011We investigate the growth of self-organized tubes formed by injection of metal salt solutions into silicate solution. The wall thickness increases strictly in an inward direction and obeys square root functions suggesting the presence of a traveling reaction-diffusion front in the radial direction.

Pressured-assisted injection forging of thick-walled tubes
International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 1995Abstract Numerous engineering components may be created in a hollow form without detracting from their performance requirements; the difficulty, however, is in the conversion of tubular materials into such components. Hollow components may be formed from tubular materials if these can be prevented from collapsing during the forming cycle.

CEC Control Model for Wall Thickness Thickening of Tube Ends and Simulation
A control model for wall thickness thickening of the seamless steel tube end was established to multilevel control the unsteady state rolling process of the tube head and tail ends for the wall thickness thickening problem during the stretch reducing ...

Condensation of Steam on a Thick-Walled Horizontal Tube
Heat Transfer Engineering, 1998Heat transfer measurements are reported for the film condensation of pure steam on a thick-walled horizontal tube. The thermal resistance of the tube in these tests was approximately 3 times that of the condensation film. Significant circumferential temperature gradients were measured around the tube, with the magnitude of the variation exceeding that ...

Thermal stresses in a thick-walled tube
International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1965Abstract Experiments are described in which pure resistance networks were used to determine, by analogy, the temperature and stress distributions in a long tube whose cross-section had a rectangular outer boundary and a central circular hole. It is shown that the electrical analogy method is valuable for the solution of thermal stress problems and ...

Finite creep deformations of thick-walled tubes
International Journal of Solids and Structures, 1974Abstract As an application of the theory of finite deformations to creep problems, the steady-state creep of pressurized thick-walled tubes is analysed. Constitutive equations of steady-state creep in case of finite deformations are first derived by assuming the Prager-Drucker potential and Norton's law.

Flexural stiffness of thick walled composite tubes
Composite Structures, 2016Composite tubes have been used in many applications such as pipes, robot arms, drive shafts, electrical conduits, printing rollers, tube structures for sports equipment, rocket structures, satellite truss structures, landing gears for helicopters, and structural building members etc.

Bifurcation of rotating thick-walled elastic tubes
Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids, 1980The deformation of a circular cylindrical elastic tube of finite wall thickness rotating about its axis is examined. A circular cylindrical deformed configuration is considered first, and the angular speed analysed as a function of an azimuthai deformation parameter at fixed axial extension for an arbitrary form of incompressible, isotropic elastic ...

Simultaneous measurement of sound velocity and wall thickness of a tube
Ultrasonics, 2001A method for simultaneously measuring the sound propagation velocity and the thickness of each wall on the opposite sides of a tube is presented. The method uses a pair of ultrasound transducers to produce two reflected pulses from the outer and inner surfaces of the tube wall on the each side, and two transmitted pulses, one with and one without the ...

Creep Behavior of Thick-Walled Tubes
2002The expansion of a long cylindrical tube by uniform internal pressure is an eternal problem because of its connection with the autofrettage of pressure vessels; the process has also been used to determine the influence of a stress gradient on the criterion of yielding. Therefore, many scientists have examined the problem.
