Condensation of Steam on a Thick-Walled Horizontal Tube

Heat Transfer Engineering, 1998
Heat transfer measurements are reported for the film condensation of pure steam on a thick-walled horizontal tube. The thermal resistance of the tube in these tests was approximately 3 times that of the condensation film. Significant circumferential temperature gradients were measured around the tube, with the magnitude of the variation exceeding that ...

Investigations of creep ratcheting on thick-walled tubes

Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1994
Abstract The superposition of load-controlled stresses and cyclic thermal stresses at very high temperatures can produce remarkably enhanced creep deformations (creep ratcheting). During an experimental project thick-walled tubes made from ALLOY 800 were loaded by an axial force at temperatures around 900°C.

Periodic flow of a viscous liquid in a thick-walled elastic tube

The Bulletin of Mathematical Biophysics, 1965
Arterial blood flow is analyzed on the basis of a realistic model consisting of a viscous liquid contained in a thick-walled viscoelastic tube. Approximate forms of the Navier-Stokes and continuity equations are derived for this model and solved in conjunction with the equations of motion of an elastic solid.

Ideal plastic deformation of thick-walled tubes

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2015
Tool profiles for ideal plastic deformation of thick-walled tubes in reduction and extension are calculated. In the case of ideal plastic deformation principal stresses coincide with the stream lines and normal to the stream lines, with the result of homogeneous plastic strain distribution through the tube wall thickness and minimum deformation force ...

Non - Homogeneity of Wall Thickness In Tube Hydroforming

Cercetări metalurgice şi de noi materiale, 2009
The process of tube hydroforming exhibits a number of advantages when compared to other metal forming processes. Therefore, the application of this manufacturing technology expands rapidly, especially in the automotive industry. Present paper describes investigations in which non-homogeneity of tube wall thickness, as one of the very important ...

Measurements of outer diameter and wall thickness of a quartz tube

The Compression of Thick-Walled Tubes by External Pressure

Journal of Pressure Vessel Technology, 1977
In a previous work the author enunciated a procedure for the analysis of tension specimen subjected to high pressure. Utilizing these results to define the work-hardening function the present paper attempts to ascertain the external pressure to which a thick-walled tube must be subjected to develop a given deflection at the internal surface of the ...

A Numerical Thermoelastoplastic Solution of a Thick-Walled Tube

AIAA Journal, 1974
An incremental theory is presented for solving the problem of elastoplastic thick-walled tubes subjected to transient thermal loading. The effective stress in a thick-walled tube subjected to thermal loading is shown by examples that it is not a monotonic function with respect to the radius, but is strongly dependent upon the history, gradient, and ...
