Estimation and Validation of an Effective Ergothioneine Dose for Improved Sleep Quality Using Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic Model

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 6, June 2025.
We proposed a new approach to estimate the minimum efficacious doses of a food ingredient using a PBPK model. The study was conducted in two parts: Study 1 involved the optimization of the PBPK model based on plasma and blood EGT concentration profiles.

Assessing Causality Between Endocrine, Nutritional, and Metabolic Disease and Pulmonary Tuberculosis: A Mendelian Randomization Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 8, Issue 6, June 2025.
Abstract Background and Aims Observational studies frequently report co‐occurrence between endocrine, nutritional, and metabolic disease (ENMD) and pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB). However, the causal properties between them remain poorly defined. Our aim in this study was to investigate the causal effect of ENMD on PTB using Mendelian randomization ...

Emerging Trends in Injectable Stimuli‐Responsive Hydrogel Microspheres: Design Strategies and Therapeutic Innovations

open access: yesMedComm – Biomaterials and Applications, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2025.
Hydrogel microspheres (HMs) enhance the properties of traditional hydrogels, offering better injectability and functionality. Advanced fabrication techniques enable precise control over their size and properties. Stimuli‐responsive HMs, which react to pH, ROS, and enzymes, allow targeted drug release and tissue repair.

Prevalence, Risk Factors, Lung Function, and Associated Comorbidities of Adult Preserved Ratio Impaired Spirometry: A Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 6, June 2025.
Comprehensive evidence on PRIsm prevalence, risk factors, lung function, and comorbidities is limited. We performed a meta‐analysis of 32 studies with 1,196,856 participants and found PRISm prevalence at 11%, with risk factors like age, body mass index, smoking, and education. Cardiovascular and endocrine comorbidities are common in PRISm.
