Progenitor “Mycobacterium canettii” Clone Responsible for Lymph Node Tuberculosis Epidemic, Djibouti

open access: yes, 2014
“Mycobacterium canettii,” an opportunistic human pathogen living in an unknown environmental reservoir, is the progenitor species from which Mycobacterium tuberculosis emerged. Since its discovery in 1969, most of the ≈70 known M.

Mapping Immunity With Cutting‐Edge Spatial Biology and Tissue Cytometry Innovations

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
This review explores how spatial biology integrates multiplexed imaging and tissue cytometry to reveal immune organization within native tissue contexts. ABSTRACT The immune system operates within organized tissue landscapes, where spatial relationships between cells shape the nature and outcome of immune responses.

Nanjing Consensus II on Washed Microbiota Transplantation: Statements From the CHINAGUT Conference

open access: yesMicrobiota Medicine Research, Volume 1, Issue 2, Page 45-62, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The new method of fecal microbiota transplantation, based on automatic facilities and washing processes, was coined as washed microbiota transplantation (WMT). The first recommendations on WMT were released as Nanjing Consensus report by the fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT)‐standardization Study Group in 2019.

Pulmonary Sarcoidosis Associated With Pleural Effusion: A Case Report

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
A rare case of pulmonary sarcoidosis presenting with bilateral pleural effusion is described in a young adult. Diagnosis was supported by characteristic radiological findings, lymphocyte‐predominant exudative pleural effusion and histological confirmation of non‐caseating granulomas via EBUS‐TBNA.

Pulmonary Rheumatoid Nodules: A Case Report

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
PRNs, a rare extra‐articular manifestation of RA, should be distinguished from infections and malignancies. High‐resolution chest CT and biopsy help in the diagnosis. ABSTRACT Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disorder primarily targeting joints, with the lungs often being the most affected organ outside the joints.

Variance‐Guided Regression for Heteroscedastic Data With a Grouping‐Based Extension for Nonlinear Prediction

open access: yesStatistics in Medicine, Volume 45, Issue 13-14, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Although homoscedasticity is often assumed in linear regression, real data may show variance patterns or residual structures that violate this assumption. We propose VarGuid, a variance‐guided framework for two related settings: Covariate‐dependent conditional variance under a global linear mean model, and residual nonlinear mean structure ...

[Tuberculosis of the retroperitoneal lymph nodes].

open access: yesWiadomosci lekarskie (Warsaw, Poland : 1960), 1994
The authors present an extremely rare location of retroperitoneal lymph node tuberculosis, imitating in ultrasonography and computed tomography a neoplastic tumour of this region. The diagnostic difficulties associated with the described case are analysed.

Revisiting Thoracic Duct Resection in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Propensity‐Matched Analysis and Immunologic Insight Into Recurrence Risk

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 11, June 2026.
Thoracic duct resection did not improve overall or recurrence‐free survival in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma after McKeown esophagectomy. In node‐negative patients, it was associated with a higher recurrence risk, supporting selective thoracic duct preservation when oncologically feasible.
