ICZN rules—a farewell to Tubificidae (Annelida, Clitellata)

open access: yesZootaxa, 2008
Morphological and molecular characters support that the former clitellate family Naididae Ehrenberg, 1828 is nested within another family, Tubificidae Vejdovský, 1876. To avoid paraphyly of the latter, it has been suggested that the two should be regarded as a single taxon.

The use of Tubificidae in a biological early warning system

Environmental Pollution, 1999
Tubificidae are aquatic annelids which occur abundantly in organically polluted waters. The anterior end of their body is buried in the sediment, while the posterior end moves in the water. This posterior end is (partly) retracted in the sediment in the presence of defined concentrations of pollutants.

Insight into the effect of Tubificidae on dynamic membrane reactor: Membrane fouling mitigation and Tubificidae-ASM3-dynamic membrane coupled model

Bioresource Technology
To gain insights into the effects of Tubificidae on dynamic membrane sequencing batch reactor (DMSBR), 4 identical DMSBRs were operated with different Tubificidae densities (i.e., 0, 1, 2, 3 g ww/L). Experimental results showed that Tubificidae had a minimal effect on carbon and nitrogen removal but varied effluent turbidity and sludge characteristics.
