Open letter: The need for a site‐based biodiversity standard measuring and certifying impacts from nature‐based projects

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Despite growing investment in restoration, weak accountability and poor biodiversity monitoring mean many projects fail to achieve ecological recovery. The Global Biodiversity Standard (TGBS) offers a practical way to ensure that restoration finance delivers measurable gains for nature.

A synthetic eco‐evolutionary proposal for the conservation of wild relatives of the olive tree

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Societal Impact Statement Crop wild relatives (CWR) are valuable sources of genetic diversity for plant breeding. However, the identification of wild untapped genetic resources (i.e., unexploited in crops) is not always straightforward. We propose a methodology to guide the identification and conservation of these resources that integrates both genetic

From settler gardens to digital naturalists: human aesthetic preferences and land use changes facilitate the biogeographical expansion of a wild plant–virus interaction

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Anthropogenic facilitation of wild plants based on aesthetic preferences for particular traits can change the biogeography and ecology of natural communities. We use a mixed‐methods socioecological approach to characterize the ways in which humans interact with a common, widely distributed plant and a generalist viral symbiont that induces an ...

Percutaneous Aponeurotomy and Lipofilling in Complex Periorbital Scar Revision

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Periorbital scars and deformities pose a significant challenge due to the region's delicate anatomy and esthetic importance. This case series explores the application of percutaneous aponeurotomy and lipofilling (PALF) in three patients with complex periorbital scarring resulting from surgical, traumatic, and pathological causes.

Risk of recurrence and bleeding in patients with cancer-associated venous thromboembolism in the direct oral anticoagulants era: Findings from the TULIPE registry

open access: yesPLOS One
Background The introduction of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) for venous thromboembolism (VTE) treatment has led to their widespread adoption in clinical practice, potentially influencing management strategies and patient outcomes. However, real-world data on cancer-associated VTE in the DOAC era remain limited.

Quantitative Metrics for Edge Bundling of Network Visualizations

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Edge bundling is widely used for reducing visual clutter in large 2D network and trajectory visualizations. Various edge bundling methods have been proposed, each producing qualitatively distinct outputs for the same data; however, few quantitative metrics exist for systematic evaluation. In this paper, we propose a set of quantitative metrics

Un/Learning Adult Frames of Reference in Death Enquiries: Thinking~With a Picturebook, Philosophical Animism and Ontological Tact

open access: yesChildren &Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Developmental psychology continues to shape how adults engage with children about death and dying. Figurations of the innocent, immature and vulnerable child still dominate adult imaginaries of young children's understandings of mortality ...

Litifilimab efficacy on skin outcomes in cutaneous lupus erythematosus in the Phase 2 LILAC study

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
Our findings show that greater proportions of litifilimab‐treated participants than placebo experienced 20%, 50%, 70% or 90% improvements in CLASI‐A score from baseline and CLASI‐A scores of 0–1 or 0–3. Similar results were observed using physician global assessments, supporting the Phase 2 LILAC study primary analysis in CLE.
