A lactylation-related gene signature predicts metastasis and prognosis in breast cancer

open access: yesScientific Reports
Breast cancer (BC) remains one of the most prevalent and deadly cancers among women worldwide. Nearly one-third of early-stage cases eventually develop metastases, dropping the five-year survival rate to just 24%.

Clonal replacement of tumor-specific T cells following PD-1 blockade

open access: yesNature Network Boston, 2019
Immunotherapies that block inhibitory checkpoint receptors on T cells have transformed the clinical care of patients with cancer1. However, whether the T cell response to checkpoint blockade relies on reinvigoration of pre-existing tumor-infiltrating ...

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

PD-1 axis expression in musculoskeletal tumors and antitumor effect of nivolumab in osteosarcoma model of humanized mouse

open access: yesJournal of Hematology & Oncology, 2018
Background Immune checkpoint inhibitors have led to a breakthrough in solid tumor immunotherapy, but related studies on musculoskeletal tumors are few, especially for PD-L2.

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

Emerging role of ARHGAP29 in melanoma cell phenotype switching

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study gives first insights into the role of ARHGAP29 in malignant melanoma. ARHGAP29 was revealed to be connected to tumor cell plasticity, promoting a mesenchymal‐like, invasive phenotype and driving tumor progression. Further, it modulates cell spreading by influencing RhoA/ROCK signaling and affects SMAD2 activity. Rho GTPase‐activating protein

Tumor‐agnostic detection of circulating tumor DNA in patients with advanced pancreatic cancer using targeted DNA methylation sequencing and cell‐free DNA fragmentomics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We evaluated circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) detection in advanced pancreatic cancer using DNA methylation, cell‐free DNA fragment lengths, and 5′ end motifs. Machine learning models were trained to estimate ctDNA levels from each feature and their combination.
