Knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding osteoporosis among hormone receptor-positive breast cancer patients: a cross-sectional study

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
ObjectiveTo investigate the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) concerning osteoporosis among hormone receptor-positive (HR+) breast cancer patients.MethodsA cross-sectional study was conducted from November, 2023, to March, 2024 among HR+ breast ...

Quantitation of rare circulating tumor cells by folate receptor alpha ligand-targeted PCR in bladder transitional cell carcinoma and its potential diagnostic significance

open access: yes, 2014
Numerous attempts for detection of circulating tumor cells (CTC) have been made to develop reliable assays for early diagnosis of cancers. In this study, we validated the application of folate receptor alpha (FR alpha) as the tumor marker to detect CTC ...

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Correlation analysis on interaction between Interleukin 10 gene and smoking with esophageal cancer risk in a Chinese Han population

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgical Oncology
Aims This study aims to evaluate the impact of four SNPs of interleukin-10 (IL- 10) gene, and the interaction with the environmental factors on the risk of esophageal cancer (EC) based on a Chinese Han population. Methods Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE)

Salmonella Breaks Tumor Immune Tolerance by Downregulating Tumor Programmed Death-Ligand 1 Expression

open access: yes, 2019
Immunotherapy is becoming a popular treatment modality in combat against cancer, one of the world’s leading health problems. While tumor cells influence host immunity via expressing immune inhibitory signaling proteins, some bacteria possess ...

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

[Supratentorial tumors].

open access: yesDer Radiologe, 2007
Magnetic resonance imaging is a routine diagnostic measure for a suspected intracerebral mass. Computed tomography is usually also indicated. Further diagnostic procedures as well as the interpretation of the findings vary depending on the tumor location.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Trypsin digest of cancer cells surface stimulates anti-tumor immune response better than cancer cells themselves

open access: yes, 2010
Antigens expressed on the surface of cancer cells are accessible targets for both humoral and cell-mediated immune responses, and are therefore potential candidates for vaccine development.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.
