Identification of epidermal Pdx1 expression discloses different roles of Notch1 and Notch2 in murine KrasG12D-induced skin carcinogenesis in vivo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background The Ras and Notch signaling pathways are frequently activated during development to control many diverse cellular processes and are often dysregulated during tumorigenesis.

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Imaging-guided radiofrequency and microwave tumor ablation

open access: yes, 2010
Tumor ablation is defined as the direct application of chemical or thermal therapies to a tumor to achieve eradication or substantial tumor destruction.

DataSheet_1_Knowledge mapping of image-guided tumor ablation and immunity: A bibliometric analysis.docx

open access: yes, 2023
BackgroundVarious ablation techniques have been successfully applied in tumor therapy by locally destroying tumor. In the process of tumor ablation, a large number of tumor cell debris is released, which can be used as a source of tumor antigens and ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

A novel tissue-mimicking phantom for US/CT/MR-guided tumor puncture and thermal ablation

open access: yes, 2022
This study aimed to develop a novel tumor-bearing tissue phantom model that can be used for US/CT/MR-guided tumor puncture and thermal ablation. The phantom model comprised two parts: a normal tissue-mimicking phantom and a tumor-mimicking phantom.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Portal vein thrombosis and arterioportal shunts : effects on tumor response after chemoembolization of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yes, 2011
AIM: To evaluate the effect of portal vein thrombosis and arterioportal shunts on local tumor response in advanced cases of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma treated by transarterial chemoembolization.

Exploring functional mechanisms underlying tumor initiation, EMT and cell migration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Cancer is one of the leading causes of death. A primary tumor forms when cells start to proliferate in an uncontrolled way and stop reacting to restraining signals.
