MERKEL CELL TUMOR

Acta Pathologica Japonica, 1987
A Merkel cell tumor appeared on the left cheek of an 83‐year‐old female was reported. The tumor was located mainly in the dermis and infiltrated to the subcutaneous adipose tissue with an involvement of the blood vessels and lymphatics at the periphery.

Germ-Cell Tumors

New England Journal of Medicine, 2007
Testicular cancer is rare, accounting for 1% to 2% of all male malignancies. Nearly 90% to 95% of tumors arising in testis are germ cell in origin. Other sites of malignant germ cell tumors include the retroperitoneum, mediastinum, sacrococcygeal region, and pineal gland. The highest incidence is seen in Scandinavian countries, particularly Denmark (1).

Targeting tumor cells

Current Opinion in Cell Biology, 2003
Several recent scientific and technical developments have made it possible to postulate the use of the 'magic bullet' concept; that is, the identification of specific antigens present on tumor cells that can be targeted either by therapeutic antibodies or by small molecules.

Circulating Tumor Cells

2010
Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) can be separated and characterized from normal hematopoietic cellular constituents by a variety of methods. Different strategies have included separation by physical characteristics, such as size or weight, or by biological characteristics, such as expression of epithelial or cancer-specific markers.

Circulating Tumor Cells

2015
Circulating Tumor Cells (CTC) are shed from primary or secondary tumors. Prior studies have demonstrated that enumeration of CTC is a robust independent prognostic factor of progression free and overall survival in patients with early and metastatic breast cancer.

Clear Cell Islet Cell Tumor

American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1983
A patient with an islet cell tumor presented initially with a supra-renal mass that histologically had an extensive clear cell component. Electron microscopic and immunocytochemical findings were essential to prove that the extrapancreatic mass with clear cells was an unusual metastatic manifestation of an islet cell tumor.

Malignant Granular Cell Tumor

The Journal of Dermatology, 1990
AbstractA malignant granular cell tumor (MGCT) appeared on the subungual tissue of the right index finger of a 51‐year‐old woman. Two years after resection of the tumor, it recurred, and the finger finally had to be amputated. Six months later, she noticed multiple cutaneous nodules on her trunk.

Tumor Cell Survival

2002
The development of assays for measuring the survival of individual tumor cells revolutionized the study of experimental cancer therapy by enabling researchers to move from assessing the gross responses of tumors to measuring the survival of cells in the critical, clonogenic tumor-cell populations (1).

[Merkel cell tumor].

Annali italiani di chirurgia, 1990
The authors review 274 cases of Merkel's cells tumor reported in literature and present one case they personally observed. This kind of neoplasm develops itself inside the derma without involving the epidermidis and shows an aggressive biological behaviour.

Endothelial cell tumors

Microscopy Research and Technique, 2003
AbstractHistorically, there has been much debate on the nature of infantile hemangiomas as either congenital malformations or benign neoplasms. Some vascular lesions that are present at birth and evidence no proliferative growth are considered to be congenital malformations; other post‐natal vascular tumors pursue aggressive and possibly lethal ...
