Leptin and leptin receptor expression as biomarkers for breast cancer: a retrospective study

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2023
Background Effective screening and treatment have reduced the number of women dying from breast cancer (BC). However, the long-term sequelae of BC treatment and psychosocial factors seriously affect the life quality of BC patients and survivors ...

Tumor Marker Workshops

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2003
Since 1996, the nine ISOBM Workshops have so far characterized more than 300 monoclonal antibodies to a variety of tumor markers that include CA125, AFP, PSA, MUC1, Cytokeratins, Sialyl Le(a), hCG, CEA, ALP, and more recently SCC, and S100. Besides the basic characterization of antibodies and their epitope configurations, several workshops have also ...

Serum CA 15.3, CEA and ESR Patterns in Breast Cancer

open access: yesThe International Journal of Biological Markers, 1997
Serum CA 15.3, CEA and ESR were longitudinally determined in 298 patients with breast cancer during postsurgical follow-up and/or therapy. Observation lasted until the death of the patient or at least for three years.

Tumor Markers [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular & Cellular Proteomics, 2003
Abstract One of the questions most frequently asked of physicians by patients concerns prognosis. Markers of solid tumors are the best prognosticators of the course of these tumors. The effect of these markers on the host will have a substantial impact on prognosis by affecting the performance status of the patient.

Calpains: Markers of tumor aggressiveness? [PDF]

open access: yesExperimental Cell Research, 2010
Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) are soft-tissue sarcoma commonly encountered in childhood. RMS cells can acquire invasive behavior and form metastases. The metastatic dissemination implicates many proteases among which are mu-calpain and m-calpain. Study of calpain expression and activity underline the deregulation of calpain activity in RMS.

Cost/Effectiveness Ratio of Carcinoembryonic Antigen - Importance of Adequacy of Routine Requests of Tumor Markers

open access: yesThe International Journal of Biological Markers, 1992
Since 1987 we have been evaluating the cost/effectiveness ratio of tumor markers using carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) as a leading indicator. Preliminary to the evaluation of cost/effectiveness ratio we verified the fitness of CEA requests to the proper ...

Serum immunoglobulin free light chains and their association with clinical phenotypes, serology and activity in patients with IgG4-related disease

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
The clinical utility of serum immunoglobulin free light chains (sFLC) in IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is unknown. Herein we evaluated their association with clinical phenotypes, serology and activity in patients with IgG4-RD. Cross-sectional study that
