Thrombospondin and tumor necrosis factor
Progress in two main projects in my laboratory are discussed: (i) the study of the extracellular matrix/cell surface molecule thrombospondin (TSP); and (ii) the characterization of primary or immediate early response genes induced by tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF).

Biological Aspects of Tumor Necrosis Factor [PDF]
Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) has been determined as an endogenous mediator for endotoxin-induced tumor necrosis. This macrophage product has been biochemically characterized and its protein structure defined by molecular cloning of the TNF gene. Experiments with antibodies to TNF demonstrated that TNF acts as an effector molecule of activated cytotoxic ...

LUNAR is a liver‐specific long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) that is highly expressed in normal liver but becomes epigenetically silenced in hepatocellular carcinoma through promoter hypermethylation. Loss of LUNAR is associated with NOTCH activation, epithelial–mesenchymal transition, and metastasis, whereas restoring LUNAR restrains metastatic progression ...

PANoptosis in the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndromes
PANoptosis, a combination of three types of programmed cell death, is mediated by a large protein complex called a PANoptosome. In healthy bone marrow hematopoietic cells, PANoptosis is restricted by inhibitory signaling. In MDS, bone marrow cells become sensitive to the PANoptotic stimuli due to the aberrant inactivation of inhibitory signaling or ...

Tumor Necrosis Factor-Alpha and Age-Related Pathologies
Modern concepts about the «inflammaging» and the role of subclinical inflammation in various age-associated pathology are described in the review. Particular attention is paid to the tumor necrosis factor-α, a key cytokine that plays an important role in

The cell‐autonomous roles of interferon type 1 vary based on duration and intensity. While acute, robust signaling results in cancer cell cytotoxic effects, sustained, low‐level signaling is associated with tumor‐promoting effects. This review summarizes current research of IFN‐1 in cancer and within the clinical setting, with an emphasis on female ...

Role of TNF–TNF Receptor 2 Signal in Regulatory T Cells and Its Therapeutic Implications
Tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα) is a pleiotropic cytokine which signals through TNF receptor 1 (TNFR1) and TNF receptor 2 (TNFR2). Emerging evidence has demonstrated that TNFR1 is ubiquitously expressed on almost all cells, while TNFR2 exhibits a limited ...

This study identifies somatostatin receptor 4 (Sstr4) as a critical tumor suppressor against skin and head/neck cancers (HNSCC, cSCC, and BCC). The loss of Sstr4 removes a check on cell growth, causing hyperactivation of the MAPK‐ERK signaling pathway (↑).
