Tumor necrosis factor alpha gene polymorphism in Serbian patients with sarcoidosis [PDF]

open access: yesSrpski Arhiv za Celokupno Lekarstvo, 2013
Introduction. Sarcoidosis is a multisystemic disease of unknown etiology. Genetic factors play a considerable role in the onset of the disease. Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) is a proinflammatory cytokine which plays an important role in the ...

Evidence of a role of tumor necrosis factor alpha in refractory asthma.

open access: yesNew England Journal of Medicine, 2006
BACKGROUND The development of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) antagonists has made it feasible to investigate the role of this cytokine in refractory asthma.

Tumor necrosis factor alpha as a potential marker for prostate cancer

open access: yesمجلة مركز بحوث التقنيات الاحيائية, 2020
Background: Prostate cancer is currently the most common cause of cancer death in men. The exact cause of developing prostate cancer is not known though inflammation, ageing, ethnicity and heredity are important factors involved in the initiation and ...

Understanding and measuring mechanical signals in the tumor stroma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review discusses cancer‐associated fibroblast subtypes and their functions, particularly in relation to extracellular matrix production, as well as the development of 3D models to study tumor stroma mechanics in vitro. Several quantitative techniques to measure tissue mechanical properties are also described, to emphasize the diagnostic and ...

Tryptophan‐sensing receptor GPR142 expression levels are directly regulated by proinflammatory cytokines in ghrelin‐producing cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
GPR142, a tryptophan‐sensing receptor, stimulates gastrointestinal hormones like ghrelin and is linked to inflammation regulation. Proinflammatory cytokines suppress ghrelin production, while tryptophan levels decrease via IDO1 activation. Our findings reveal that proinflammatory cytokines directly regulate GPR142 expression in ghrelin‐producing cells,

Machine Learning Based Radiomics for Glial Tumor Classification and Comparison with Volumetric Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Purpose; The purpose of this study is to classify glial tumors into grade II, III and IV categories noninvasively by application of machine learning to multi-modal MRI features in comparison with volumetric analysis. Methods; We retrospectively studied 57 glioma patients with pre and postcontrast T1 weighted, T2 weighted, FLAIR images, and ADC maps ...

Characterisation of the role played by ELMO1, GPR141 and the intergenic polymorphism rs918980 in Fuchs' dystrophy in the Indian population

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study reports the upregulation of ELMO1 and GPR141 in human Fuchs' endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD) corneal endothelium and ultraviolet A‐induced FECD mice model. A genetic association of an intergenic single nucleotide polymorphism rs918980 present between both genes is observed with FECD in the Indian population.
