MANAGEMENT OF TESTICULAR TUMORS

The course of testicular tumors was studied in 59 patients treated by orchiectomy and x-ray. Of the 59 tumors, 22 were seminomas. Metastases to the para-aortic lymph nodes were found in 19 (32%) of 59 cases, including 7 (32%) of 22 in the seminoma group.

Treatment of Testicular Tumors

A total of 145 consecutive primary testicular tumors were treated with radiation therapy at the University of Michigan Hospital from 1955 through 1974. In patients with seminoma, the 5-year survival rate was 98% for Stage I and 88% for Stage II regardless of whether retroperitoneal lymph node dissection was done.
