Optofluidic Distributed Feedback Dye Lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We review our recent work on poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS)-based optofluidic dye lasers using a guided wave distributed feedback (DFB) cavity. We show experimental results of single-mode operation, an integrated laser array, multiple color dye lasing ...

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Frequency Doubling of a Pulsed Wavelength-Agile Erbium-Doped Fiber MOPA for Oxygen A-Band Spectroscopy

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2017
We report a pulsed wavelength-agile laser near 765 nm, which was frequency doubled from an erbium-doped fiber amplifier for oxygen A-band spectroscopy. A single frequency distributed feedback laser around 1529.6 nm was employed as the seed.

Versatile Dye Laser Generator-Amplifier System for Intense Tunable Picosecond Pulse Generation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
. Passively mode-locked ruby-laser pulses are used to generate nearly diffraction-limited picosecond light pulses in a dye cell by longitudinally amplified spontaneous emission.

Near‐Infrared Emitting Lanthanide Catecholate Giant Single Crystals – Morphology Control and Photon Down‐Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled syntheses of lanthanide coordination polymers based on the dihydroxybenzoquinone (DHBQ) organic linker afforded large single crystals of Ln‐DHBQ CPs (Ln = Yb, Nd). A novel structural variant of Yb‐DHBQ is identified by means of single crystal diffraction analysis.

Optically Integrated InP–Si$_3$ N$_4$ Hybrid Laser

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
We describe the first demonstration and characterization of an optically integrated InP–Si $_3$N$_4$ hybrid laser. The laser is formed by integration of an InP-based reflective semiconductor optical amplifier with a Si$_3$N $_4$ based feedback ...

Substrate Stress Relaxation Regulates Cell‐Mediated Assembly of Extracellular Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Silicone‐based viscoelastic substrates with tunable stress relaxation reveal how matrix mechanics regulates cellular mechanosensing and cell‐mediated matrix remodelling in the stiff regime. High stress relaxation promotes assembly of fibronectin fibril‐like structures, increased nuclear localization of YAP and formation of β1 integrin‐enriched ...

Broad, Tunable and Stable Single-Frequency Erbium Fiber Compound-Ring Lasers Based on Parallel and Series Structures in L-Band Operation

open access: yesPhotonics
In this demonstration, we present two erbium-doped fiber (EDF) lasers, with series and parallel three sub-ring configurations, respectively, to achieve tunable channel output and stable single longitudinal mode (SLM) operation in the L-band range.

Identifying the Contribution of Carrier Shot Noise and Random Carrier Recombination to Excess Frequency Noise in Tunable Lasers

open access: yesPhotonics, 2019
Tunable lasers are necessary devices for modern-day telecommunications and sensing systems. Tunable lasers based on altering the refractive index of the tuning sections of distributed Bragg reflectors (DBR) by varying the injected electrical current show

Perovskite quantum dot lasers

open access: yesInfoMat, 2020
Owing to the excellent properties of perovskite quantum dots (QDs), such as an easy synthesis process, high photoluminescence quantum yields, high defect tolerance, and tunable bandgap with different elements, laser actions have been widely conducted ...
