Influence of Oxygen Contamination on the Genesis of Nonmetallic Inclusions in a Microalloyed Steel

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Oxygen contamination during melting of steels strongly affects the evolution of nonmetallic inclusions. Controlled remelting experiments, combined with SEM/EDS analysis and thermodynamic simulations, reveal how reoxidation promotes the transformation of alumina‐based inclusions into complex FeO–MnO oxides and other interactions.

Auction-based approach to resolve the scheduling problem in the steel making process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Steel production is an extremely complex process and determining coherent schedules for the wide variety of production steps in a dynamic environment, where disturbances frequently occur, is a challenging task.

Improving the Cleanness of Low‐Carbon Tube Steel Under Steel Plant Conditions

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Reducing the number of nonmetallic inclusions in high‐quality steel rolled products is of great importance for all steel plants. One of the ways to decrease the size and quantity of alumina and silicate nonmetallic inclusions could be suppressing their formation during steel tapping from the BOF converter to the ladle.

Physics‐Informed Data‐Driven Prediction of Submerged Entry Nozzle Clogging with the Aid of Ab Initio Repository

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 96, Issue 9, Page 462-475, September 2025.
A physics‐informed data‐driven model is developed to assist steelmakers in minimizing production interruptions caused by submerged entry nozzle (SEN) clogging. To further enhance accuracy, methodology involving use of ab‐initio repository is developed. “Clogging Factor” parameter is proposed to monitor the output generated .
