Surgical outcomes in male reconstructive urology: The Qatar experience

open access: yesUroPrecision, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Obstructive azoospermia (OA) is a prevalent cause of male infertility in Qatar and globally, with vasectomy reversal (VV) and vasoepididymostomy (VE) being the primary surgical treatments. While microsurgical techniques have advanced, data from the Middle East remain limited, influenced by the region's distinct demographic and ...

Acceptor and donor impurity levels in hexagonal-diamond silicon [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Recent advances in the characterization of hexagonal-diamond silicon (2H-Si) have shown that this material possesses remarkably different structural, electronic, and optical properties as compared to the common cubic-diamond (3C) polytype. Interestingly, despite the wide range of physical properties analyzed, to date no study has investigated impurity ...

Deciphering the panvascular immune landscape of atherosclerosis

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Atherosclerosis (AS) involves inflammation in major arteries and can cause severe cardiovascular events like heart attacks and strokes, yet disease patterns vary significantly between arteries, complicating diagnosis and treatment. In this study, we integrated transcriptomic and single‐cell RNA sequencing data from AS plaques across five key arterial ...

Interaction of dopants with the I$_3$-type basal stacking fault in hexagonal-diamond Si [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Recently synthesized hexagonal-diamond silicon, germanium, and silicon-germanium nanowires exhibit remarkable optical and electronic properties when compared to cubic-diamond polytypes. Because of the metastability of the hexagonal-diamond phase, I$_3$-type basal stacking faults are frequently observed in these materials.

Granulomatous mural folliculitis and cytotoxic interface dermatitis in a pygmy goat associated with ovine herpesvirus‐2 and systemic lesions of malignant catarrhal fever

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract A 1‐year‐old pygmy goat presented with progressive alopecia, skin ulceration and lichenification over the neck, face and body. Empirical treatment for parasitic and fungal causes of skin disease did not produce clinical improvement, prompting a full diagnostic investigation.

More Voices Than Ever? Quantifying Media Bias in Networks [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Fifth International AAAI Conference on Weblogs and Social Media (ICWSM 2011), 17-21 July 2011, Barcelona, Spain, 2011
Social media, such as blogs, are often seen as democratic entities that allow more voices to be heard than the conventional mass or elite media. Some also feel that social media exhibits a balancing force against the arguably slanted elite media. A systematic comparison between social and mainstream media is necessary but challenging due to the scale ...

Understanding the Emergence of Ill‐being at Work in a Post‐colonial Context: A Qualitative Analysis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Management, EarlyView.
Abstract Little is known about how ill‐being at work is produced in a post‐colonial context. In this study, we explore this process through the lens of Critical Theory, examining the interplay between heteronomous obedience and the politicization of belonging in a multinational company in Pakistan.
