Vasa vasorum in the tunica media and tunica adventitia of the porcine aorta
Annals of Anatomy - Anatomischer Anzeiger, 2016Vasa vasorum supply both the tunica adventitia and the tunica media of major arteries with nutrients and oxygen. We estimated the density of von Willebrand factor-positive profiles of vasa vasorum visible in transversal histological sections of 123 tissue samples collected from five anatomical positions in the porcine aortae of growing pigs (n=25). Whipple Bacilli within the Tunica Media of Pulmonary Arteries
Chest, 1984In the lungs of two patients dying with Whipple's disease, we found Schiff-positive bacilli within the tunica media of many pulmonary arteries. Tissue was examined from all five lobes of the lungs in both cases. There were no pulmonary emboli and no alveolar lesions of Whipple's disease.

Tunica media changes in the spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR)
Atherosclerosis, 1987The histological, ultrastructural, morphometrical and histochemical aspects of the arterial media were studied in young and aged SHR, and compared to normotensive Wistar Kyoto rats. The diffuse thickening was the most characteristic feature of the hypertensive media. It seems due to three processes: Early generalized hypertrophy of smooth muscle cells (

The aortic tunica media in aging rats
Experimental and Molecular Pathology, 1970Abstract The tunica media of aortas of female breeder rats ranging in age from 5–36 months were examined by light and electron microscopy. Similar material previously obtained from newborn to 3-month-old female rats was used for light microscopy. Aortas were fixed at their physiological lengths.
