Nanospintronics with carbon nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
One of the actual challenges of spintronics is the realization of a spin-transistor allowing to control spin transport through an electrostatic gate. In this review, we report on different experiments which demonstrate a gate control of spin transport in

Asymmetry of the Ferroelectric Phase Transition in BaTiO3

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Phase transitions are typically assumed to behave identically in forward and reverse. This work shows that in the ferroelectric material barium titanate this is not true: heating drives an abrupt, first‐order jump, while cooling gives a smooth, continuous change.

Temperature dependence of interlayer coupling in perpendicular magnetic tunnel junctions with GdOx barriers

open access: yes, 2018
Perpendicular magnetic tunnel junctions with GdOX tunneling barriers have shown a unique voltage controllable interlayer magnetic coupling effect. Here we investigate the quality of the GdOX barrier and the coupling mechanism in these junctions by ...

LEAD: Literature Enhanced Ab Initio Discovery of Nitride Dusting Layers for Enhanced Tunnel Magnetoresistance and Lower Resistance Magnetic Tunnel Junctions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) using MgO tunnel barriers face challenges of high resistance‐area product and low tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR). To discover alternative materials, Literature Enhanced Ab initio Discovery (LEAD) is developed. The LEAD‐predicted materials are theoretically evaluated, showing that MTJs with dusting of ScN or TiN on ...

Thin-Film Trilayer Manganate Junctions

open access: yes, 1998
Spin-dependent conductance across a manganate-barrier-manganate junction has recently been demonstrated. The junction is a La$_{0.67}$Sr$_{0.33}$MnO$_3$% -SrTiO$_3$-La$_{0.67}$ Sr$_{0.33}$MnO$_3$ trilayer device supporting current-perpendicular transport.

Magnetic Textiles: A Review of Materials, Fabrication, Properties, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Magnetic textiles (M‐textiles) are emerging as a programmable materials platform that merges magnetic matter with hierarchical textile structures. This article consolidates magnetic material classes, textile architectures, and fabrication and magnetization strategies, revealing structure–property–function relationships that govern magneto‐mechanical ...

Magnetic-field and temperature dependence of the energy gap in InN nanobelt

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2012
We present tunneling measurements on an InN nanobelt which shows signatures of superconductivity. Superconducting transition takes place at temperature of 1.3K and the critical magnetic field is measured to be about 5.5kGs. The energy gap extrapolated to

A Novel Micromachined Z-axis Torsional Accelerometer Based on the Tunneling Magnetoresistive Effect

open access: yesMicromachines, 2020
A novel micromachined z-axis torsional accelerometer based on the tunneling magnetoresistive effect is presented in this paper. The plane main structure bonded with permanent magnetic film is driven to twist under the action of inertial acceleration ...
