Nonlinear Adaptive Robust Governor Control for Turbine generator
IEEE ICCA 2010, 2010This paper presents a design approach to nonlinear adaptive control of turbine speed governor systems with parametric uncertainties and exogenous disturbances. It is shown that the stabilizing control law with desired L 2 gain from the disturbance to regulated output can be designed by the dynamic surface control method in a recursive way without ...

Integrated maintenance features of hydro turbine governors
Proceedings. International Conference on Power System Technology, 2003Governor is one of the most maintenance intensive equipment in hydro power plants. The maintenance computerization of the governor is studied. A knowledge bank, which summarizes both the expert knowledge and the analytical knowledge on the failure modes and their manifestations as well as their effects, is established.

Field Adjustment of Hydraulic-Turbine Governors
Journal of Engineering for Power, 1961This paper discusses certain aspects of the adjustment of hydraulic-turbine governors for stable operation on a-c networks and describes a series of field tests performed to determine satisfactory adjustment of units operating on a network of limited capacity.

On-site investigation of electrohydraulic governors for water turbines
Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1977Hydroelectric generating sets controlled by conventional, mechanical, temporary-droop governors respond rather slowly to changes in system frequency and do not, therefore, realise their full potential as spinning reserves. Because of this, the electrohydraulic governor system described in this paper was developed for on-site evaluation of control ...

Considerations in Retrofitting Gas Turbine Governors
Volume 5: Manufacturing Materials and Metallurgy; Ceramics; Structures and Dynamics; Controls, Diagnostics and Instrumentation; Education; Process Industries, 1986The paper examines some aspects which should be examined in specifying and selecting replacement gas turbine governors. It explores the subject from the point of view of the engine manufacturer in his investigations and studies of the original supplied governor.

Compensation of the Speed Governor of a Water Turbine by the Method of Inequalities
Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 1979The method of inequalities is used to design a compensator for the speed regulation of a Francis water turbine. Apart from the improvement in regulation achieved, this paper provides a partial evaluation of the potentialities of this method of design.

ROBUST DECENTRALIZED TURBINE-GOVERNOR CONTROL SUBJECT TO CONSTRAINT ON TURBINE OUTPUT
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2002Abstract This paper considers the decentralized turbine-governor control design for the damping of low-frequency, inter-area oscillations in electric power systems. A time-varying model that explains oscillations caused by parametric resonance is employed to design a controller. A robust turbine-governor controller design is presented on the basis of

Constant System Speed and the Steam-Turbine Governor
Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1940Abstract The demand for constant system speed is a current problem of power-generating systems. Electrical stability, governor, governing-valve characteristics, and other factors play their part in the problem. In this paper only the effect the governors and governing valves have in maintaining or disturbing the system speed is discussed.
