Space-Time Block Coded Adaptive Modulation Aided OFDM

open access: yes, 2001
Space-time block codes provide substantial diversity advantages for multiple transmit antenna systems at a low decoding complexity. In this contribution, we investigate the achievable diversity advantages in the context of adaptive modulation aided turbo

Antiviral regulator TRIM25 as a prognostic marker of better survival in Merkel cell carcinoma: Association with MCPyV status

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 12, Page 3268-3278, 15 June 2026.
What's new? TRIM25 is known for its role in antiviral immunity and association with poor prognosis in various cancers. This study reveals an association between high TRIM25 expression and Merkel cell polyomavirus positivity in Merkel cell carcinoma.

Soft-input iterative channel estimation for bit-interleaved turbo-coded MIMO-OFDM systems

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Science, 2013
Bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) is a robust multiplexing technique for achieving multiplexing gain in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO)-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. However, in order to benefit maximally from the

A Turbo-Coded Burst-by-Burst Adaptive Wide-Band Speech Transceiver

open access: yes, 2000
Turbo-coded burst-by-burst adaptive orthogonal frequency division multiplex (AOFDM) wide-band speech transceivers are proposed. A constant throughput adaptive OFDM transceiver was designed and benchmarked against a time-variant rate scheme.

All You Can Eat Yeast: Substituting Hexose Transporters With AtSWEET7 Alleviates Glucose Repression, Enabling Simultaneous Utilization of Sugars in Renewable Feedstocks

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, Volume 123, Issue 6, Page 1518-1530, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Yeast sugar transporters have highly evolved for preferential glucose transport, a significant roadblock for utilizing non‐glucose sugars in renewable feedstocks such as lignocellulosic biomass. To enable simultaneous transport of multiple sugars, native hexose transporters were replaced by SWEET7p from Arabidopsis thaliana in engineered ...

On Rate-Compatible Punctured Turbo Codes Design

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2005
We propose and compare some design criteria for the search of good systematic rate-compatible punctured turbo code (RCPTC) families. The considerations presented by S. Benedetto et al.

DAMP Laden Extracellular Vesicles From the Airways of Patients With Severe SARS‐CoV‐2 Respiratory Infection Compromise Inflammation and Cellular Metabolism

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2026.
Extracellular vesicles from severe COVID‐19 airways carry depleted miRNAs and elevated DAMPs, reprogramming monocytes toward senescence, impaired metabolism, and predominantly reduced cytokine responses. However, they drive excess IL‐8 production, amplifying neutrophil recruitment and dysfunctional inflammation across the respiratory tract.

Analysis of Optical CDMA Signal Transmission: Capacity Limits and Simulation Results

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2005
We present performance limits of the optical code-division multiple-access (OCDMA) networks. In particular, we evaluate the information-theoretical capacity of the OCDMA transmission when single-user detection (SUD) is used by the receiver.

Adaptive redundant residue number system coded multicarrier modulation

open access: yes, 2000
The novel class of nonbinary maximum minimum distance redundant residue number system (RRNS) codes is invoked in the context of adaptively RRNS coded, symbol-by-symbol adaptive multicarrier modulation, in order to combat the effects of frequency ...
