The genetic architecture of leaf vein density and its importance for photosynthesis in maize

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Vein types in maize leaves. Summary Leaf venation density has significantly increased during plant evolution. Higher densities are observed in angiosperms compared with early land plants, and among angiosperms, recently diverged C4 species have the highest values.

Nested turbo codes for the costa problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Driven by applications in data-hiding, MIMO broadcast channel coding, precoding for interference cancellation, and transmitter cooperation in wireless networks, Costa coding has lately become a very active research area.

Turnip mosaic virus utilizes the lipid droplet biogenesis machinery to facilitate its propagation in plants

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Potyvirus turnip mosaic virus induces neutral lipid accumulation and lipid droplet biogenesis in infected leaves for its own benefit. Summary Lipid droplets (LDs), which are dedicated to storing neutral lipids (NLs), are dynamic organelles involved in numerous other functions, including membrane remodeling during abiotic stress.

Design of Low-Complexity Coded Modulation Employing High-Order QAM With Systematic Geometric Constellation Shaping

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society
In this work, we investigate the performance of geometric constellation shaping for highorder coded quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) over an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel.

Near-Instantaneously Adaptive Decision Feedback Equalized Coded Modulation for Wireless Video Telephony

open access: yes, 2001
Decision Feedback Equaliation (DFE) aided wideband Burst-by-Burst (BbB) Adaptive Trellis Coded Modulation (TCM), Turbo Trellis Coded Modulation (TTCM) and Bit-Interleaved Coded Modulation (BICM) are proposed and characterised in performance terms over ...

Loss of DET1 in High Pigment 2 Tomato Prevents High Temperature Repression of Anthocyanin Biosynthesis in Fruit Through HY5 Stabilization

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Global warming impacts several aspects of plant physiology, with important negative effects on crop yield and production of secondary metabolites, such as anthocyanins. The anthocyanin content of vegetables and fruits has attracted public interest in the last two decades due to its health benefits, leading to the development of novel ...

Three-Dimensional EXIT Chart Analysis of Iterative Detection Aided Coded Modulation Schemes

open access: yes, 2006
The iterative convergence of iteratively detected coded modulation schemes having different block lengths, decoding complexity and an unequal error protection capability is studied, when communicating over AWGNchannels using 8PSK modulation.

Performance Analysis of Iteratively Decoded Variable-Length Space-Time Coded Modulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
It is demonstrated that iteratively Decoded Variable Length Space Time Coded Modulation (VL-STCM-ID) schemes are capable of simultaneously providing both coding gain as well as multiplexing and diversity gain.

Circular RNAs in Lotus japonicus Responses to Nutrient Supply and Mesorhizobium Symbiosis

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Symbiotic interactions between legumes and rhizobia enable nitrogen fixation under low nutrient conditions. The establishment and function of symbiotic interactions require coordinated changes in gene expression in both the host and the microbe. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are endogenous gene‐specific molecules that can regulate transcription and

Channel Prediction Aided Coded Modulation Assisted Eigen-Beamforming

open access: yes, 2007
Eigen-beamforming is capable of providing attractive performance gains in the context of Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems, provided that accurate Channel State Information (CSI) is available.
