Dual pharmacological targeting of coactivator‐associated arginine methyltransferase 1 (CARM1) and salt inducible kinase (SIK) drives ketogenesis in both hepatocytes and mice

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose Ketone bodies are liver‐derived circulating energy metabolites that positively impact most hallmarks of ageing. Ketone bodies increase during calorie restriction and fasting, two of the more widely perceived methods to increase health span.

Distributed Joint Source-Channel Coding-Based Adaptive Dynamic Network Coding

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Distributed Source Coding (DSC) schemes rely on separate encoding but joint decoding of statistically dependent sources, which exhibit correlation. More specifically, Distributed Joint Source-Channel coding (DJSC) is associated with the scenario, where ...

Therapeutic targeting of bleomycin‐induced pulmonary fibrosis by human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell‐derived extracellular vesicles and/or pirfenidone: Impact of sex in mature adult mice

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive lung disease with limited therapeutic options. This study compared the therapeutic effects of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell‐derived extracellular vesicles (BM‐MSC‐EVs) with an IPF treatment, pirfenidone (PFD), in mature adult mice with established pulmonary ...

Analysis of turbo codes with asymmetric modulation

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1999
If different energies are assigned to two outputs of a turbo encoder, the information bit and parity bit, then the performance will be changed according to the ratio of the information bit energy to the parity bit energy. The optimum point of the ratio may not be 1. As the rate of the turbo code is changed, the optimum point will also be changed.

Combined trellis-coded modulation and blind turbo equalisation [PDF]

open access: yesEUROCON'2001. International Conference on Trends in Communications. Technical Program, Proceedings (Cat. No.01EX439), 2002
Per-survivor processing (PSP)-based blind turbo equalization is combined with various coded modulation schemes, which employ combined modulation and channel coding techniques. The proposed method exploits the enhanced data protection offered by either trellis-coded modulation (TCM), bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) or turbo-TCM (TTCM) and ...

Turbo trellis-coded hierarchical modulation assisted decode-and-forward cooperation

open access: yes
Hierarchical modulation, which is also known as layered modulation, has been widely adopted across the telecommunication industry. Its strict backward compatibility with single-layer modems and its low complexity facilitate the seamless upgrading of ...

Turbo Coded and Cooperative Network Coded Non-Coherent Soft-Decision Star-QAM Dispensing with Channel Estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Star Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (Star-QAM) is a non-coherent detection aided scheme ideal for low-complexity wireless transceivers. In this contribution, we first derive soft-decision aided StQAM symbol-to-bit demapping combined with iterative ...

RNF13 is a previously undescribed interactor of iduronate 2‐sulfatase that modifies its glycosylation and maturation

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Iduronate 2‐sulfatase (IDS; purple) is expressed as a precursor protein that goes through multiple steps of maturation, modification, and trafficking to become an active lysosomal enzyme that degrades glycosaminoglycans. Our study shows that the transmembrane ubiquitin ligases RNF13 (orange) and RNF167 (pink) heterodimerize, affecting IDS intracellular

Quantitative analysis of DNA‐GATA1 binding alterations linked to hematopoietic disorders

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Native holdup allows the quantitative determination of affinities between full‐length transcription factors and DNA. Mutations in either the protein or the DNA can modulate binding strength, which can be precisely quantified using this approach. Applied to GATA1, it revealed mutations that alter DNA binding.

RNF13 regulates the endolysosomal pathway through interaction with the small GTPase Arl8B

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF13 functions as a regulatory scaffold, organizing Arl8B‐dependent complexes and tuning downstream signaling that controls endolysosomal organization and trafficking. In this model, wild‐type RNF13 associates with Arl8B on endolysosomes, whereas Arl8B (E22D/F55A) or RNF13 (L244A) variants weaken complex assembly, potentially ...
