The L108I polymorphism in mouse prion protein drives spontaneous disease and enhances transmission of atypical and classical prion strains

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
A single amino acid change (L108I) combined with PrP overexpression drives spontaneous atypical prion formation in mice, enabling also efficient propagation of diverse prion strains. This model allows studying how spontaneous prion diseases arise and provides powerful tools for investigating strain emergence, transmission barriers, and mechanisms ...

Concatenation of Space-Time Block Codes and Turbo Trellis Coded Modulation (ST-TTCM) Over Rician Fading Channels With Imperfect Phase Reference

open access: yesElectrica, 2019
In this paper, the performance of Space-Time - Turbo Trellis Coded Modulation (ST-TTCM) is evaluated over Rician fading channels with imperfect phase reference.

The DNA/RNA autophagy protein SIDT2 as a novel neuropathological hallmark in Huntington disease

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
SIDT2‐immunoreactive inclusions are observed in the striatum, cerebral cortex, and hypothalamus in HD cases with different Vonsattel grades, and the frequency of SIDT2‐immunoreactive inclusions is associated with longer CAG repeats in the huntingtin gene.

Joint Multilevel Turbo Equalization and Continuous Phase Frequency Shift Keying

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2008
A novel type of turbo coded modulation scheme, called multilevel turbo coded-continuous phase frequency shift keying (MLTC-CPFSK), is designed to improve the overall bit error rate (BER) and bandwidth efficiency. Then, this scheme is combined with a new

Space-Time Trellis and Space-Time Block Coding Versus Adaptive Modulation and Coding Aided OFDM for Wideband Channels

open access: yes, 2006
—The achievable performance of channel coded spacetime trellis (STT) codes and space-time block (STB) codes transmitted over wideband channels is studied in the context of schemes having an effective throughput of 2 bits/symbol (BPS) and 3 BPS.

Analysis of turbo codes with asymmetric modulation

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1999
If different energies are assigned to two outputs of a turbo encoder, the information bit and parity bit, then the performance will be changed according to the ratio of the information bit energy to the parity bit energy. The optimum point of the ratio may not be 1. As the rate of the turbo code is changed, the optimum point will also be changed.

Dual pharmacological targeting of coactivator‐associated arginine methyltransferase 1 (CARM1) and salt inducible kinase (SIK) drives ketogenesis in both hepatocytes and mice

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose Ketone bodies are liver‐derived circulating energy metabolites that positively impact most hallmarks of ageing. Ketone bodies increase during calorie restriction and fasting, two of the more widely perceived methods to increase health span.

Distributed Joint Source-Channel Coding-Based Adaptive Dynamic Network Coding

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Distributed Source Coding (DSC) schemes rely on separate encoding but joint decoding of statistically dependent sources, which exhibit correlation. More specifically, Distributed Joint Source-Channel coding (DJSC) is associated with the scenario, where ...

Performance Analysis and Enhancement of Multiband OFDM for UWB Communications

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper, we analyze the frequency-hopping orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) system known as Multiband OFDM for high-rate wireless personal area networks (WPANs) based on ultra-wideband (UWB) transmission.
