Turbo codes are error-correcting codes with performance close to the Shannon theoretical limit [SHA]. These codes have been invented at ENST Bretagne (now TELECOM Bretagne), France, in the beginning of the 90's [BER]. The encoder is formed by the parallel concatenation of two convolutional codes separated by an interleaver or permuter.

Spatially coupled turbo codes [PDF]
In this paper, we introduce the concept of spatially coupled turbo codes (SC-TCs), as the turbo codes counterpart of spatially coupled low-density parity-check codes. We describe spatial coupling for both Berrou et al. and Benedetto et al. parallel and serially concatenated codes.

5G V2X Performance Comparison for Different Channel Coding Schemes and Propagation Models
Channel coding is a fundamental procedure in wireless telecommunication systems and has a strong impact on the data transmission quality. This effect becomes more important when the transmission must be characterised by low latency and low bit error rate,

Interleaver design for turbo codes [PDF]
The performance of a Turbo code with short block length depends critically on the interleaver design. There are two major criteria in the design of an interleaver: the distance spectrum of the code and the correlation between the information input data and the soft output of each decoder corresponding to its parity bits.
