Numerical study of circle fractal grid perforated plate as a turbulent generator in combustion chamber [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Fractal grids can be used to design turbulent flows with low power losses and high turbulence intensities for intense yet economic mixing over a region of designed length and location.

Mapping of Turbulent Intensity by Magnetic Resonance Imaging

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance, Series B, 1994
The signal produced by turbulent flow in NMR pulse sequences has been analyzed by considering the effects of variations in fluid velocity on the net signal phase variance. It is shown that in a bipolar field gradient, the signal is dependent on the gradient amplitude and the precise time dependence of the velocity fluctuations.

Benchmarking Coaxial and Angular Optical Emission Spectroscopy With Recommendations for Reliable Compositional In Situ Monitoring During Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Real‐time insight into local chemistry is critical for reliable part quality in additive manufacturing, especially laser powder bed fusion (PBF‑LB/M), where rapid thermal cycles and localized evaporation can undermine part performance. Optical emission spectroscopy (OES) offers non‑intrusive, in situ plume monitoring, but detection geometry ...

Transition from wave turbulence to dynamical crumpling in vibrated elastic plates

open access: yes, 2013
We study the dynamical regime of wave turbulence of a vibrated thin elastic plate based on experimental and numerical observations. We focus our study to the strongly non linear regime described in a previous letter by N. Yokoyama & M. Takaoka.

Extreme‐Temperature Resistant, Flexible, and Sensitive Strain Sensor for Aerospace Parachute Deployment

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
In this study, we report a resistive‐type strain sensor fabricated using single‐walled CNTs, are used layer using the pray technique to deposit as conductive, and UV‐resin was spin‐coated as a protection layer. The sensor functioned in harsh temperature variation conditions from −50°C to 125°C without deterioration.

Study on Turbulence Intensity Calculated by WT for Safety Assessment of Wind Farms

open access: yesKongzhi Yu Xinxi Jishu, 2013
Turbulence intensity has an important effect on fatigue load and ultimate load of wind turbine. Based on the wind measurement data of a wind farm in the Yunnan-Guizhou plateau, the turbulence intensity was calculated by CFD software Meteodyn WT ...

Study on the Wake of a Miniature Wind Turbine Using the Reynolds Stress Model

open access: yesEnergies, 2016
The Reynolds Stress Model (RSM) is adopted to simulate the wind turbine wake and the simulation results are compared with the wind tunnel test data, simulation results from the standard k-ε model and a modified k-ε model.

RENAL‐CHIP: Rejection Evaluation via Non‐Invasive Analysis of Circulating Podocytes With Herringbone‐Chip Isolation Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RENAL‐CHIP converts 1 mL of peripheral blood into a biopsy‐equivalent readout of renal‐allograft fate. By magnetic capture and release of donor‐derived circulating podocytes through a herringbone microfluidic chip, 84% capture, 96% release and single‐cell RNA evidence of rejection‐specific immunity are achieved.

Flow-turbulence interaction in magnetic reconnection

open access: yes, 2011
Roles of turbulence in the context of magnetic reconnection are investigated with special emphasis on the mutual interaction between flow (large-scale inhomogeneous structure) and turbulence. In order to evaluate the effective transport due to turbulence,
