Gyrokinetic simulations on zonal flow–turbulence spreading coupling

open access: yesPhysics of Plasmas
Zonal flows and turbulence spreading play important roles in magnetic fusion plasma confinement, yet their coupling mechanisms remain elusive. Using global nonlinear gyrokinetic simulations, we show that turbulence spreading transports zonal flow radially, extending into the linearly stable regions after local nonlinear saturation of turbulence ...

Scalable Separation and Purification of M13‐Bacteriophage‐Derived Particles Containing Artificial Single‐Stranded DNA Produced by Escherichia coli

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Single‐stranded DNA (ssDNA) solutions are promising innovations shaping the future of genetic research and medical therapies. In principle, biotechnological mass production of ssDNA can be achieved using Escherichia coli in a high‐cell density fed‐batch process by secreting phagemid particles derived from the filamentous M13 bacteriophages ...

A General Workflow for Tangential Flow Filtration Perfusion Scale‐Up

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Tangential flow filtration (TFF) perfusion using hollow‐fiber modules offers substantial advantages over other mammalian cell retention technologies. Recently, increased awareness of Starling flow has helped to enhance filtration performance to similar, or even higher levels compared to alternative technologies.

Scale‐Down Platforms for Process‐Oriented Enzyme Screening Using Microfluidics

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Enzyme screening platforms are typically evaluated based on their throughput and analytical performance rather than their ability to mimic the conditions encountered at large scale. In bioreactors, enzymes experience gradients in substrate concentration, oxygen availability, pH, temperature, and interfacial exposure, caused by imperfect mixing

Simulations of edge and SOL turbulence in diverted negative and positive triangularity plasmas

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Optimizing the performance of magnetic confinement fusion devices is critical to achieving an attractive fusion reactor design. Negative triangularity (NT) scenarios have been shown to achieve excellent levels of energy confinement, while avoiding edge ...

Roughness-induced transition and turbulent wedge spreading

open access: yesExperiments in Fluids
Boundary layer transition triggered by a discrete roughness element generates a turbulent wedge that spreads laterally as it proceeds downstream. Historical literature reports the spreading half angle is approximately 6$^{\circ}$ in zero-pressure gradient flows regardless of Reynolds number and roughness shape.

Nanomedicine‐driven innovations in postoperative cancer immunotherapy: Remodeling tumor microenvironment and precision delivery strategies

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Nanomedicine‐Driven Strategies for Suppressing Postoperative Tumor Recurrence. This schematic illustrates three pivotal nanomedical strategies that synergistically counteract recurrence by targeting residual disease and the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment within the surgical cavity.

Green Ambiguity Shapes Sustainable Investing

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Green Exchange‐Traded Funds (ETFs) have experienced strong growth in recent years, reflecting increasing investor attention toward sustainability. However, these funds rely on a wide range of environmental metrics that are often weakly aligned, raising concerns about the meaning of greenness in sustainable investing.

Simulations of Eccentricity Growth in Compact Binary Accretion Disks with Magnetohydrodynamic Turbulence

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present the results of four magnetohydrodynamic simulations and one alpha-disk simulation of accretion disks in a compact binary system, neglecting vertical stratification and assuming a locally isothermal equation of state. We demonstrate that in the

Leveraging Reverse Engineering for CSCM Practices: Demystifying the Roles of Compositional Capability and Cooperative Orientation Under Humane Orientation and Competition Intensity

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Circular supply chain management (CSCM) practices are seen as a solution for addressing society's many significant environmental challenges. Although existing studies recognise the importance of reverse engineering in combating poverty, there is limited knowledge about its effectiveness in shaping CSCM practices to address climate change and ...
