Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Turbulent dissipation in the boundary layer of precession-driven flow in a sphere

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2023
The energy dissipation in a uniform vorticity flow, such as the flow in a precessing spheroid or the one associated with the earth’s free core nutation, is mainly confined to the boundary layers.

MECHANISM OF WALL TURBULENCE IN BOUNDARY LAYER FLOW [PDF]

open access: yesModern Physics Letters B, 2009
The energy gradient method is used to analyze the turbulent generation in the transition boundary layer flow. It is found that the maximum of the energy gradient function occurs at the wall for the Blasius boundary layer flow. At this location under a sufficiently high Reynolds number, even a low level of free-stream disturbance can cause the ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

On properties of the deterministic turbulence and reproducibility of its instantaneous and statistical characteristics

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, 2014
As known from previous studies, the deterministic turbulence (DeTu) is a post-transitional flow that is turbulent according to the generally accepted statistical characteristics but possesses, meanwhile, a significant degree of determinism, i.e ...

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

A new flow chip in combination with multiphoton microscopy as a protocol for longitudinal 3D imaging of tissue calcification under shear stress

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Miniaturized flow chip platform enabling continuous perfusion and longitudinal multiphoton 3D imaging of vascular smooth muscle cell constructs under physiological flow. Brightfield imaging guides region selection, while CellTracker Green and mRuby‐labeled fetuin‐A visualize cells and mineral deposition, respectively. Magnesium supplementation markedly

Paramagnetic Rim Lesions Are Associated With Trans‐Synaptic Degeneration of the Visual Pathway in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Retrograde trans‐synaptic degeneration (rTSD) from posterior visual pathway lesions in multiple sclerosis (MS) is characterized by hemi‐macular ganglion cell‐inner plexiform layer (GCIPL) thinning and contralateral visual field loss.

Study of Transition to Turbulence in a Supersonic Boundary Layer Using DNS and Transition Prediction

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2007
The current understanding of supersonic boundary layer transition is reviewed in this paper. The material focuses on bypass transition in a plane supersonic boundary layer. Recent advances in DNS and engineering prediction of transition are discussed. It
