Turbulent Flame Speed and Flame Characteristics of Lean Premixed H2-CH4 Flames at Moderate Pressure Levels

open access: yesVolume 3A: Combustion, Fuels, and Emissions, 2023
Abstract Carbon dioxide emissions in gas turbine power generation can be reduced by adding an increasing amount of hydrogen to the existing natural gas-fueled combustion systems. To enable safe operation, more insight on how H2 addition affects turbulent flame speed and other important flame characteristics is needed.

Toward a Unified Mechanistic Understanding of Polymer Electrolytes for Advanced Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Polymer electrolytes (PEs) are often indiscriminately grouped as “solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs)”, despite fundamental differences in their ion‐transport mechanisms. This Perspective establishes a mechanism‐based framework that distinguishes gel, quasi‐solid, and all‐solid polymer electrolytes based on their dominant ion‐transport pathways.

Investigations on conical lean turbulent premixed hydrogenated natural gas flames

open access: yesFuel Communications
Hydrogen's ability to enhance carbon neutrality in combustion processes puts forward the use of hydrogenated fuels, both in the form of fuel and an energy carrier as a potential decarbonization solution.

Reconstruction Method of 3D Turbulent Flames by Background-Oriented Schlieren Tomography and Analysis of Time Asynchrony

open access: yesFire, 2023
Background-oriented Schlieren tomography (BOST) is widely used for 3D reconstruction of turbulent flames. Two major concerns are associated with 3D reconstruction. One is the time asynchrony within the data acquisition of the high-speed camera. The other

Effects of Turbulent Reynolds Number on the Displacement Speed Statistics in the Thin Reaction Zones Regime of Turbulent Premixed Combustion

open access: yesJournal of Combustion, 2011
The effects of turbulent Reynolds number on the statistical behaviour of the displacement speed have been studied using three-dimensional Direct Numerical Simulation of statistically planar turbulent premixed flames.

On flame speed enhancement in turbulent premixed hydrogen-air flames during local flame-flame interaction

open access: yesCombustion and Flame, 2023
Given the need to develop zero-carbon combustors for power and aircraft engine applications, $S_d$ of a turbulent premixed flame, especially for H$_2$-air, is of immediate interest. The present study investigates 3D DNS cases of premixed H$_2$-air turbulent flames at varied pressures for different $Re_t$ and $Ka$ with detailed chemistry to ...

Atomic Tuning of Metal‐Support Interactions for Pathway‐Selective CO2 Photoreduction on TiO2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐atom Fe and Cu catalysts anchored on TiO2 steer photocatalytic CO2 reduction toward distinct pathways. Fe sites favor rapid *CO desorption and selective CO formation, whereas Cu sites stabilize *CHO intermediates, enabling deep reduction and C─C coupling. Combined spectroscopy and DFT calculations reveal how metal–support interactions and oxygen

Flame‐Retardant Quasi‐Solid‐State Electrolytes From Self‐Assembled Azolate Hybrid Frameworks for Highly Safe Lithium Batteries

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This work develops a spray‐assisted in situ assembly technique to construct AHF materials with nitrogen/oxygen‐regulated one‐dimensional channels on glass fiber, providing abundant active sites and enabling rapid transport for lithium ions. Subsequently, phosphate flame retardants are encapsulated via in situ polymerization, resulting in a thermally ...
