Three-layer circulation in the world deepest hadal trench
The Challenger Deep (CD) is the deepest known hadal trench in the world. Due to challenges in data sampling at extreme ocean depths, the Lower Circumpolar Deep Water (LCDW) transport and ocean circulation structure in the CD remain unclear.

Impact of Internal Solitary Waves on Marine Suspended Particulate Matter: A Review
Suspended particulate matter (SPM) plays a pivotal role in marine source-to-sink sedimentary systems. Internal solitary waves (ISWs), a prevalent hydrodynamic phenomenon, significantly influence vertical mixing, cross-shelf material transport, and ...

Transport and mixing by finite-size particles in turbulent flows
Suspensions of solid particles in a viscous fluid are ubiquitous in natural and engineering settings, including sediment transport in river beds, blood flow in the human body, oil products transport in pipelines and pulp fibers in papermaking. Multiphase flows consisting of finite-size particles is a challenging topic due to multi-way coupling ...

The inhibition of mitochondrial dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) impairs syncytialization and induces cellular senescence via mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum stress in human trophoblast stem cells, elevating sFlt1/PlGF levels, a hallmark of placental dysfunction in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

Transport phenomena in chaotic flows: flux recombination HEX reactors [PDF]
Rapid transport of heat and mass is required in many industrial processes. Mixing is a fundamental issue in chemical engineering applications and when exothermic reactions are involved, heat transfer capabilities of reactors and static mixers become an ...

Anchorage‐independent and faster growth in clonal population from UV‐irradiated NER‐deficient cells
UV‐irradiated cells expressing a DDB2 mutant protein unable to interact with PCNA (DDB2PCNA‐) form clones able to grow without anchorage. Different experimental approaches reveal heterogeneity in cell cycle regulation and drug response within these clones, emphasizing the crucial role of the DDB2‐PCNA interaction in preventing cellular transformation ...

14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

Prediction of heat release effects on a mixing layer [PDF]
A fully second-order closure model for turbulent reacting flows is suggested based on Favre statistics. For diffusion flames the local thermodynamic state is related to single conserved scalar.

This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Turbulent transport and length scale measurement experiments with comfined coaxial jets [PDF]
A three phase experimental study of mixing downstream of swirling and nonswirling confined coaxial jets was conducted to obtain data for the evaluation and improvement of turbulent transport models currently employed in a variety of computational ...
