This papcr, discusscs the influence of John Dcwey\\'s visit to Turkey, his report on the Turkish educational system and the Turkish cducators by using especially the Turkish ncwspapers of that period. Consequently, invitation of Dcwey presented as an indication of the desire of Ataturk for the establishment of democratic culture through education.
