Kaside, Arapça "kasada" kökünden gelip, kelime anlamıyla "kastetmek, yönelmek, niyet etmek" demektir. Edebiyat terimi olarak, ilk beyti musarra, sonraki beyitlerin ilk mısraları serbest, ikinci mısraları ilk beyitle aynı kafiyede olan ve baştan sona aruzun aynı kalıbıyla yazılan nazım şeklinin adidir.
