Precipitation Simulations of the O‐Phase in Ti2AlNb Alloys Processed by Laser Powder Bed Fusion
Simulated and experimental evolution of the O‐phase volume fraction during postprocessing of a Ti‐21Al‐25Nb (at.%) alloy processed by laser powder bed fusion. With results of sensitivity to input parameters from a thorough and quantified analysis, the interfacial energy matrix/precipitate is the most relevant input parameter for the simulation of the O‐

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

Abstract There is an almost universal pattern and structure to classroom interaction that both constrains what teachers and students can do, but also offers opportunities to use these structures to support the learning of mathematics. Turn taking structures that dominate learning interactions may control who can speak when and what can ...

Organization of turn-taking and mechanisms for turn-taking repairs in a chaired meeting
Journal of Pragmatics, 1993Abstract In their famous article published in 1974, Sacks, Schegloff, and Jefferson studied the organization of turn-taking in conversations, and proposed a model alleged to be both context- and content- independent. However, they evoke specific exchange formats where the system of rules in effect is obviously not the one described in the model ...

Categorizing Turn-Taking Interactions
2012We address the problem of categorizing turn-taking interactions between individuals. Social interactions are characterized by turn-taking and arise frequently in real-world videos. Our approach is based on the use of temporal causal analysis to decompose a space-time visual word representation of video into co-occuring independent segments, called ...

This paper provides a theoretical explanation for the adoption of turn-taking in office. Turn-taking in office is where two or more individuals are elected to serve individual terms for the same public office, with the exclusive right to exercise the public office rotating among those elected individuals at intervals shorter than the term.

Social correlates of turn-taking behavior
2009 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2009The goal of this research is to infer traits about groups of people from their turn-taking behavior in natural conversation. These traits are latent attributes in a social network, whose relative frequencies we estimate from content-derived metadata. Our approach is to train statistical models of turn-taking behavior using automatic labels of speech ...

AbstractIn their informal verbal exchanges people tend to follow the ‘one speaker at the time’ rule posited by Emanuel Schegloff. The use of the term ‘turn-taking’ to describe the process in which this rule operates in human conversation is relatively recent.
