Business confidence and cyclical turning points: A Markov-Switching approach

open access: yes, 2007
Markov regime-switching analysis is used to consider the relationship between business confidence and the probability of turning points in cyclical GDP.

Effect of Shift in Speed Turning on Machined Surface Quality

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2017
This article describes the evaluation of machined material roughness in speed turning on a machining centre Doosan Puma 700 LY. The machined surface of semi-finished products from steel 14 260 was compared at selected cutting conditions.

To turn or not to turn?

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2016
Abstract Bacteria typically swim in straight runs, interruped by sudden turning events. In particular, some species are limited to a reversal in the swimming direction as the only turning maneuver at their disposal. In a recent article, Großmann et al ( 2016

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

The Influence of Solid Lubricant On Machining Quality in Turning of S45C Mild Steel

open access: yes, 2013
Conference Venue : UniKL MFIProduct quality is one of the crucial criteria for the evaluation of turning process. However, heat generated in the cutting zone during machining might deteriorates the surface quality especially because of the tool wear ...

Turning on by turning

open access: yesThe Journal of Cell Biology, 2005
Growth hormone activates its dimeric receptor (the growth hormone receptor [GHR]) by rotating one subunit relative to the other, according to Richard Brown, Michael Waters (University of Queensland, Australia), and colleagues. Figure Receptor rotation aligns activating kinases.

ANIMAL TURN AS A META-TURN?

open access: yesSociety Register, 2020
Human sciences as a reflection of social transformations fluctuate with dynamic changes of current cognitive paradigms. Following the textual and visual turn and the turn towards things (objects), there are intensified tendencies to think in terms of an “animal turn”, which becomes close not only to activists and pro-animal activists but also to ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Cutting data for automated turning tool selection in industry [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
This thesis is concerned with the determination of cutting parameters (cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut) in turning operations within an industrial environment.

Turning machines.

open access: yesCoRR, 2020
Molecular robotics is challenging, so it seems best to keep it simple. We consider an abstract molecular robotics model based on simple folding instructions that execute asynchronously. Turning Machines are a simple 1D to 2D folding model, also easily generalisable to 2D to 3D folding. A Turning Machine starts out as a line of connected monomers in the
