ABSTRACT Background Limited data exist on cardiocirculatory responses associated with extended periods of apnea during administration of high‐flow nasal oxygen for laryngologic surgery (apneic oxygenation with HFNO, AO‐HFNO). The possibility of hemodynamic compromise in the settings of acute hypercapnia, respiratory acidosis, hyperoxia, and IV ...

Across 11 observational studies comprising 6 471 577 patients, the pooled incidence of ischaemic optic neuropathy after cardiac surgery was approximately 1.5 cases per 10 000 procedures. Coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease and anaemia were associated with increased odds of ION, although these findings should be interpreted in the ...

Monitoring Mitochondrial Function With High‐Resolution Respirometry During Ex‐Situ Heart Perfusion
Normothermic ESHP preserves mitochondrial respiratory function over 6 h in a porcine model (n = 6): OXPHOS capacities across NADH‐, fatty‐acid‐, and succinate‐linked pathways remain stable, with reduced cytochrome‐c control efficiency indicating improved outer‐membrane integrity. HRR provides a rapid, actionable readout for organ assessment.

SURGELLA: A Scoping Review of Impella‐Assisted Hemodynamic Support in High‐Risk Non‐Cardiac Surgery
In selected patients with severe LV dysfunction, Impella‐supported non‐cardiac surgery may provide a temporary hemodynamic bridge to otherwise prohibitive procedures. Published evidence remains limited to a small number of highly selected cases, supporting technical feasibility rather than comparative benefit or generalizable safety.

Experimental Extracorporeal Circulation System: A Pilot Study in Rats
A miniature extracorporeal circulation (ECC) system was developed for reproducible rodent studies. This system incorporates an integrated heat exchanger and a silicone membrane oxygenator within a double‐lumen circuit, resulting in an ultralow priming volume of < 1.5 mL.

Progress Toward a Portable Artificial Lung: A Systematic Review
Eight portable respiratory assist devices were identified. The CE‐marked MobyBox and the FDA‐approved Breethe OXY‐1 system are in clinical use. Each device is substantially minimized to allow ambulation, but further work is required to address challenges related to anticoagulant management and safe mobilization. Created in BioRender. Abstract Coats disease diagnosed in adulthood is a rare idiopathic retinal telangiectatic vasculopathy that may differ in phenotype from childhood‐diagnosed cases. This systematic review synthesizes current evidence to characterize its clinical spectrum, imaging features, treatment outcomes and underlying mechanisms, with a focus on immunovascular ...
