Study of the Mechanical Properties of Strips Obtained in TRC Line

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2016
Twin Roll Casting technology belongs to modern, integrated method of processing aluminum and its alloys. This method includes preparation of liquid metal and its continuous casting between the rotating cylindrical crystallizers, optional homogenizing ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Relieving segregation in twin-roll cast Mg–8Al–2Sn–1Zn alloys via controlled rolling

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys, 2021
Twin-roll casting (TRC) of Mg alloys with high Al content has unique advantages and broad development prospects. However, the severe segregation of high-alloyed Mg caused by TRC technology is difficult to solve at present, which restricts its practical ...

Twin roll casting and melt conditioned twin-roll casting of magnesium alloys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Recently, BCAST at Brunel University has developed a MCAST (melt conditioning by advanced shear technology) process for conditioning liquid metal at temperature either above or bellow the alloy liquidus using a high shear twin-screw mechanism.

Orthotropic Behavior of Twin-Roll-Cast and Hot-Rolled Magnesium ZAX210 Sheet

open access: yesMaterials, 2022
Magnesium sheet metal alloys offer a deformation asymmetry, which is strongly related to grain size and texture. In order to predict deformation behavior as well as to provide methods to eliminate anisotropy and yield asymmetry, a lot of effort is invested in studying the tension–compression asymmetry of magnesium alloys.

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Casting Process at Roll Bite in Strip Cast Using Vertical-Type High-Speed Twin-Roll Caster

open access: yesMetals, 2022
The solidification process in strip casting using a vertical-type high-speed twin-roll caster was clarified by inserting a 0.1 mm diameter K-type thermocouple into a strip during casting.

Enhancing Strength and Electrical Conductivity in Al–Zr–Sc Conductor Alloys Through Sn and Sr Microalloying and Two‐Step Aging Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Trace additions of Sn and Sr combined with a two‐step aging treatment are shown to enhance the microstructure and performance of Al–Zr–Sc conductor alloys. Strength and electrical conductivity increase concurrently through accelerated precipitation of fine Al3(Sc, Zr) precipitates and improved dislocation resistance, offering a cost‐effective pathway ...

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated
