HLA Haplotypes in Dizygotic Twin Pairs: Are Dizygotic Twins More Similar Than Sibs? [PDF]

open access: yesTwin Research, 2002
AbstractIt has been suggested that dizygotic twin pairs share two HLA haplotypes more often than ordinary siblings and thus might be genetically more alike. We tested this hypothesis in dizygotic twin pairs from the Danish Twin Registry. A total of 114 (60 female and 54 male) same-sexed healthy twin pairs aged 18–45 years participated.

Research with twins: The concept of emergenesis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982

Twins and endocrinology

open access: yesIndian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2014
Twins are two independent babies delivered during the same pregnancy and are divided as monozygotic or dizygotic based on their origin. Dizygotic twins are similar to two siblings and have different genetic information.

Simultaneous cloacogenic carcinoma in dizygotic twins [PDF]

open access: yesCancer, 1987
Dizygotic twins developed cloacogenic carcinoma of the anus almost simultaneously. The patients, although separated from the time they were 20-years-old, had very similar life styles. There are several reports in the medical literature of synchronous tumors in mono and dizygotic twins.

Economics of Twin Pregnancies in Dairy Cattle

open access: yesAnimals, 2021
Twinning in Holstein dairy cows has increased over time concurrent with increased milk production. Twinning in dairy cattle is not desirable due to the negative effects on both cows that calve twins and calves born as twins that result in economic losses
