Twin‐to‐twin transfusion syndrome

International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics, 2007
Eighty one percent of case group reported a gross change in quality or quantity of vaginal discharge in the last week of pregnancy, in comparison to 14% with full term pregnant women who reported altered status of vaginal discharge in the time interval of week 28 to week 37 0f their pregnancies (Pb0.000) (Table 2).

Twin–Twin Transfusion Syndrome

Seminars in Perinatology, 2012
Twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) is a serious condition that affects 10% to 15% of twin pregnancies with monochorionic diamniotic placentation. The pathophysiology of TTTS is not completely understood; however, the presence of unbalanced placental vascular communications within a shared circulation has been implicated in its development.

`Twin' Psoriasis in Monozygotic Twins

Archives of Dermatology, 1984
To the Editor.— Psoriasis in concordant, monozygotic twin pairs tends to be similar, with respect to age of onset, distribution pattern, severity, and course. 1,2 The similarity in the behavior of the disease has been ascribed to the fact that both patients have two basic factors in common, ie, identical genetic endowment and nearly identical ...

The Monozygotic Twinning Process, the Twin-twin Transfusion Syndrome and Acardiac Twins

Placenta, 2009
This paper suggests that during the time of the "splitting process" that produces monozygotic twins the number of cells may not be evenly distributed to the future twins. The outcome of this 'irregular division' may be the twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome and acardiac twins.

The twin–twin transfusion syndrome

Seminars in Neonatology, 2002
The aetiology of twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), which affects 10-15% of monochorionic (MC) twin pregnancies, remains poorly understood. Although all MC twins have placental vascular anastomoses, unbalanced intertwin transfusion has been shown by ex vivo injection and in vivo Doppler studies of chorionic plate vasculature to be mediated by > or =

Suicide in Twins

Archives of General Psychiatry, 1986
Suicide appears to cluster in families, suggesting that genetic factors may play a role in this behavior. We studied 176 twin pairs in which one or both twins had committed suicide. Seven of the 62 monozygotic twin pairs were concordant for suicide compared with two of the 114 dizygotic twin pairs (11.3% vs 1.8%).

Twin–twin transfusion syndrome

Clinics in Perinatology, 2003
The understanding and management of twin-twin transfusion syndrome has evolved significantly over the past few years. Improved and standardized sonographic diagnostic criteria, understanding of the heterogeneic nature of the syndrome, development of an anatomical and reproducible surgical technique for the identification of vascular anastomoses, and ...
