Harnessing Phase Separation for the Development of High‐Performance Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hydrogels are indispensable for the development of next‐generation bioelectronics, soft robotics, and biomedical devices, where their mechanical properties determine performance and reliability. Among strategies to enhance hydrogel mechanics, phase separation enables controlled heterogeneity resulting in gel networks that are reinforced by ...

The RP(^2) sigma and easy plane baby skyrme models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
This thesis examines the behaviour of two new models exhibiting topological solitons. This analysis is predominantly numerical, but a limited collective coordinate approach is attempted where appropriate. In chapter 1 we review the field of solitons.

Heterojunction‐Engineered Mass Spectrometry Platform for Deciphering Serum Metabolic Fingerprints in Diagnosis of Respiratory Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hollow Co3O4/TiO2 heterojunctions are engineered for high‐throughput laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry. The built‐in electric field drives efficient charge separation and photothermal conversion, while the hierarchical mesoporous network enables robust salt and protein tolerance.

Compact electrical generators for diesel driven generating sets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This thesis explores two approaches for converting rotating mechanical power from diesel engines into electrical power of fixed frequency and voltage. Advances in high energy permanent magnets and power electronics are enabling technologies that provide ...

Foliations with unbounded deviation on the two-dimensional torus

open access: yes, 2002
There exists a smooth foliation with 3 singular points on the two-dimensional torus such that any lifting of a leaf of this foliation on the universal covering of the torus is a dense subset of the covering.

Nano Carbon‐mesh with Excellent Bonding Performance via Hydro‐cage De‐shielding Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A hydro‐cage de‐shielding strategy transforms cellulose‐based films into a dragonfly‐wing‐like nano carbon‐mesh (NCM) adhesive through instantaneous carbonization‐polymerization. The resulting NCM‐plywood achieves exceptional wet shear strength (1.24 MPa at 63°C), exceeding Class II plywood standards, and retains 0.73 MPa after boiling‐water cycles ...

Bifurcations of attractors in 3D diffeomorphisms : a study in experimental mathematics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The research presented in this PhD thesis within the framework of nonlinear deterministic dynamical systems depending on parameters. The work is divided into four Chapters, where the first is a general introduction to the other three.

A Supramolecular Reversible and Anisotropic Conductive Adhesive for Flexible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Supramolecular network‐based nanocomposites are developed as a stretchable conductive adhesive for flexible electronics. It's as convenient as traditional solders and constructs anisotropic conductive and robust stretchable connections among diverse soft/rigid materials.

An elliptic integrable deformation of the Principal Chiral Model

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We introduce a new elliptic integrable σ-model in the form of a two-parameter deformation of the Principal Chiral Model on the group SLℝ(N), generalising a construction of Cherednik for N = 2 (up to reality conditions).

Interpretable Machine Learning Framework for Nb─Si Based Alloy Design with Enhanced Fracture Toughness

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An interpretable machine learning framework integrating SHAP and PDP analysis identifies critical design descriptors from 139 physicochemical features for Nb─Si alloys. The framework achieves <7% prediction error and guides the discovery of Nb38.5Ti38.5Si3Zr18V2 alloy with 22.791 MPa·m1/2 fracture toughness, breaking the 20 MPa·m1/2 barrier.
