Persistence of MHD-stability in the two-fluid model

Nuclear Fusion, 1967
A general proof is given that all static equilibria without volume currents which are stable according to magneto-hydrodynamics (MHD) remai n stable in the two-fluid model, if resistivity and electron inertia are neglected. Therefore the Hall term in Ohm's law can onl y have a stabilizing effect, if any effect at all.

A MUSTA Scheme for a Nonconservative Two-Fluid Model

SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing, 2009
We present a multistage centered scheme, of the kind proposed by Toro [Appl. Numer. Math., 56 (2006), pp. 1464-1479], for numerically resolving the simultaneous flow of two fluids through a transport pipeline. This model contains nonconservative terms in both the temporal and spatial derivatives, and an extension of the standard numerical framework for

Slug modeling with 1D two-fluid model

Kerntechnik, 2012
Abstract Simulations of condensation-induced water hammer with one-dimensional two-fluid model requires explicit modeling of slug formation, slug propagation, and in some cases slug decay. Stratified flow correlations that are more or less well known in 1D two-fluid models, are crucial for accurate description of the initial phase of the

Weakly Implicit Numerical Schemes for a Two-Fluid Model

SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing, 2005
Summary: The aim of this paper is to construct semi-implicit numerical schemes for a two-phase (two-fluid) flow model, allowing for violation of the CFL criterion for sonic waves while maintaining a high level of accuracy and stability on volume fraction waves. By using an appropriate hybridization of a robust implicit flux and an upwind explicit flux,

Physics motivated modeling of volcanic clouds as a two fluids model

11th Pacific Conference onComputer Graphics and Applications, 2003. Proceedings., 2004
In this paper, we present a physics motivated modeling method for volcanic clouds as a two fluids model. Some previous methods model smoke or clouds as one fluid, but the volcanic clouds can not be treated as one fluid. The volcanic clouds consist of the pyroclasts, the volcanic gas and the entrained air.

On the thermodynamics of the two fluid model of helium II

Physica, 1949
Abstract The thermodynamics underlying the two-fluid model of helium is developed. It is shown that the conclusions usually drawn from this model are only valid if special expressions for G i b b s' function of the liquid are accepted.
