Retardation in two-photon absorption

Physical Review A, 1989
Previous calculations of two-photon absorption and emission in hydrogen have revealed frequencies at which the transition is forbidden, at least within the approximations made. Here we show that if retardation is taken into account these so-called ''transparency frequencies'' are slightly shifted, but the zero transition amplitude persists.

Two-photon absorption strength: A new tool for the quantification of two-photon absorption

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2006
In this paper, we define the two-photon absorption strength, a new characterization tool, similar to the oscillator strength, but for two-photon absorption. It allows the quantification of the two-photon absorption properties of molecular systems which are one-photon transparent. Its definition is such that the corresponding numerical values are around

Two-photon absorption in liquid xenon

Physical Review B, 1993
Excitation spectra of two-photon excited xenon near the triple point have been obtained in order to study exciton structure near the band edge. While the band gap is suppressed in the low-temperature liquid, absorption due to even-parity exciton states is presented and discussed.

Two-photon absorption in semiconductor nanocrystals

Physical Review B, 1994
Measurements of the two-photon absorption coefficient in semiconductor-doped glasses were performed. The imaginary part of the third-order optical susceptibility in the semiconductor particles is derived by combining nonlinear-optical-transmission data with small-angle neutron-scattering (SANS) results, which give the volume fraction of the ...

Solitons and two-photon absorption

Optics Letters, 1990
The effect of weak two-photon absorption on soliton propagation is investigated. It is found that fundamental solitons evolve adiabatically; expressions describing their broadening and attenuation are given. Higher-order solitons break up into two diverging fundamental solitons for a wide range of parameters.

TWO-PHOTON ABSORPTION AND EMISSION PROCESS

Infinite Dimensional Analysis, Quantum Probability and Related Topics, 2005
We analyze the two-photon absorption and emission process and characterize the stationary states at zero and positive temperature. We show that entangled stationary states exist only at zero temperature and, at positive temperature, there exists infinitely many commuting invariant states satisfying the detailed balance condition.

Two-photon absorption in HgCdTe

Applied Optics, 1992
Two-photon absorption coefficients in Hg0.78Cd0.22Te are calculated for 10.6-μm radiation at 150 and 300 K by using the Basov formula and the nonparabolic energy band structure approximation. The temperature and composition dependence of the energy gap of HgCdTe are included in these calculations.

Saturation of the Two-Photon Absorption in CdS

Ultrafast Phenomena, 1996
Short optical pulses, in the range of 100 fs, allow to reach high excitation intensity, of the order of several tens of GW/cm2, with at the same time low levels of energy deposition, of the order of a few hundreds of nanojoules. This situation is favorable to escape thermal effects (at low repetition rates) and to be faster than most of the electronic ...
